centers we could trade delonte west for?

Post#1 » by sh0rty528 » Sat Aug 30, 2008 9:49 pm

i love delonte west as much cavs fans love him, his performance in playoffs was awesome especially the semifinals series against the champions celtics. Apparently, i think we should trade west right now while his value is SO HIGH(the highest possible). delonte doesn't have a room on our team right now with the addition of mo will and gibson as a back up. we do need 3 pg on our team just in case one went down, we need to sign a 3rd string cheap reserve veteran pg to fill that role(someone like sam cassell). delonte west is a young pg who has a lot of potential and upside, we should get quality player to address some of our needs. west will not sign a long term contract here. we should not let west sign qualifying offer because at the end of the season he will no longer here and he can sign to any teams. BETTER to get something out of him right now than to just let him go.

*i would rather trade delonte west for a big, probably a center to back up z and eventually be our starting center for the upcoming years when big Z retires. (we miss the iranian center who we can sign without trading anyone, he could be a decent center to any teams)

Here are the list of centers who we can trade west which will expire on 2010 for capspace:

atl- zaza pachulia $4,000,000 1 yr

it's a good trade. we fill in one of our needs of back up center. those players i've mentioned has a lot of potentials and can probably take the role of big z when he retires. those players are young and has a lot of upside. maybe they are not considered as starting center, but a quality player who can contribute. we don't need need a scoring center, we just need a role player. spurs is an example, there center is elson before and right now it's oberto. Those players is not big time players. They don't do have big 3 in parker, ginobili and duncan. we do have a twosome duo and we're about to get a scoring pf come the trade deadline which will put us over the hump and have a chance to win it all.

Most of those players are either overpaid and can't be traded for the amount we'd sign Delonte for or they are undertalented and why would we make that trade. IMO

okay would you trade lebron for eddy curry because he fills the role as a backup center?

NO

you dont make trades where your getting way worse quality then your sending out.

i cant believe you said steven hunter. and those other scrubs.

we can pick up a better player with the LLE for cryin outlowd.

i think we should be looking at some of new jersies bigs.

they are one of maybe 3 teams in the league thats stacked at pf/c.

but i wouldnt trade delonte for any (thats realistic.)

maybe pavs for boone or somthing

Scola would be great, also Oberto.. He's really underrated. But there's no chance.

We should have gotten Scola last year, but there is no way that we'd be able to get him now.

I wouldn't mind a player like Channing Frye. Could fill the Joe Smith role pretty well.

He is a little soft but would play well off LBJ I think

Unless the Cavs make some other move Delonte West is far and away the best availible option for the Cavs as the starting SG next year and he also gives you a third PG as well. I don't even see a third string C as a need for the Cavs right now as Big Z, Wallace and Varejao can all play center and Hickson should be good enough to play in the rotation at PF allowing them to use all three guys at center.

PG Williams/Gibson/West
SG West/Szczerbiak/Pavlovic
SF James/Szczerbiak/Pavlovic
PF Wallace/Hickson/Varejao
C Big Z/Varejao/Wallace

If JJ Hickson is what I think he is you guys are all set up front, I think a few years from now he will be a very compareable player to David West production wise but he is more of a in the paint type performer.

If the Cavs can lock up Delonte West at 4-5 million a year to be the starting SG and play some PG when needed I think they finally become legit title contenders as soon as JJ Hickson is ready to start.

Yeah, I agree with the Boone trade. Watching him at UConn, he had all of the talent and potential in the world, but he just needs a little work to achieve it. He can play center, and he is still young. Who knows, maybe he and Hickson will progress for us, and then we're set 4-5 years down the road. The best trade would be us getting Scola, but there is no way Houston would give him up for Delonte. As mentioned before, Frye would be a decent option, but he is a very weak defender and shies from contact.
