Yeah, the Utes tried to throw that one away. Luckily they did just enough.

They need to tighten up on the penalties, maintain momentum, a play better on special teams.

Good win though, knowing that at the end of the year that is a great win to fall back on is a great sign.

Goodness, how many penalties and for how many yards were called against us? Big 10 officiating at its best. Thank God we still win. Defense is amazing.

This was UNDOUBTABLY the worst officiating game I've EVER seen. The refs WERE NOT GOING TO let Michigan lose the game.

Well, Utes made the front page of ESPN.com. Too bad they were so sloppy. I am at work so only caught parts as I snuck around. Didn't realize the 9 points had a touchdown with a botched XP.

Seriously, this game should have been won by the Utes with a score closer to 31-3 then 25-23.

They gave away a ball in the red-zone, fumbled the ball on a punt that led to a touchdown, had a punt blocked that led to a touchdown, and then the penalties that led to another touchdown.

That was a good game for the Utes. They dominate Michigan. I was very impressed with Matt #4 (not going to try and spell his last name) and Brian Johnson was solid. Good luck to the Utes the rest of the season.

This game was a huge let down. Terrible play calling by Ludwig in the second half. We were running a prevent on offense. The penalties to start the game were BS. Phantom PI call on Sly and that weak personal foul call. I agree with what Bat said, Michigan had no place in this game.

I am pretty happy with how focused we were in the 1st half, Brian Johnson was on target
It was nice to have Casteel back, they guy is very important in our offense because he can get yards after catch. Asiata certainly made a strong debut, looks like it will be Asiata as our starting RB over Mack....Michigan offense looked inexperienced, because they were, and our defense didn't give them much. Their offense only scored when we f'ed up(which we did a couple times) and gave them a short field.

Early in the 2nd half we had a chance to put them away and we couldn't get the job done.
I hope that is not a reoccurring thing this season.

but a win is a win and i'll take it, especially in the big house

Yep! I hope more media realize this is the fact. Michigan looked bad and Utah is underated.

Michigan looked awful and the Utes should have won that game 42-0, but dumb mistakes (which are becoming a Whittingham calling card) almost took the game from the Utes. They have got to play smarter or this season will end up being a dissapointment for Ute fans.

i think some of the dumb mistakes had to do with it being the first game of the season
you have to learn from your mistakes early in the season

with Ludwig you take the good with the bad. sometimes his play calls are brilliant, other times your left wondering what the heck was he thinking..Hopefully it's mostly good play calls this season. but he sure has the talent to produce this year. How about the depth at wide receiver?
