Random- now that I know I have Haywood I am willing to add him to the previously discussed trade. It is still a big shake up, but it would give you a pair of nice post defenders (Wallace and Haywood) to combat some of the nasty front courts.

Monta is still on the block for a pick. I will take any 9th round draft picks.

What about an 11th rounder for him? I'd definitely trade a 9th for him if he was healthy, but it look like he'll miss at least 15-20 games.

Do injuries play a role in the voting?

Do injuries play a role in the voting?

"I should have posted this earlier, but here's how I think the voting should work after we're done drafting and trading:

Posters with at least "x" number of posts will be allowed to vote. Obviously, they can't be participants in this draft. I will post the 10 rosters and ask voters to consider the following situation: Imagine that the 10 teams are playing 82 games a year, just like the real NBA. Every team plays every other team multiple times. With a regular season starting and ending the same time as the NBA's does, which 2 teams do you think would have the worst records? The first 2 teams to receive a certain number of votes will be eliminated. This stage is where injuries must be considered. For example, if a player is out until January, voters should consider that when picking the 2 weakest teams.

At this point, 8 teams will remain. I will randomly assign 4 matchups (1 team vs. 1 other team). I will then ask posters to vote on who they think would win each matchup if it was a 7 game-series, like the NBA Playoffs. Teams will move on to the next round (of 4) and then the championship round.

Sound good?

I'll repost this somewhere else.

Also, I don't think I did a very good job of explaining the role of injuries in this contest, so please ask if you have any questions about that. Basically, if a player is out for the first 20 games of the real season, voters should pretend that the same holds true in this contest. For the playoffs, however, all players will be considered healthy (unless they are out for about 10+ months in real life).

nba_addict wrote:i think injuries is not a factor in judgment during brainstorming sessions. it will be unfair your getting a 1st pick and then he gets injured and out for the season the week before votation. monta is an example, he got injured after i got him with my 5th pick. sixth_man can you clarify. thanks.

In this specific case, his injury will have a slight effect on this contest. I believe Ellis is expected to miss around the first 20 games of the season. The voters should consider that. Basically, the would look at your roster without Ellis, and predict your team's record for about 20 games, and then look at your team's roster WITH Ellis, and predict the record for around 62 games. Honestly, his injury probably won't have a huge effect on the voting.

If the team you've drafted makes the playoffs (top 8), his injury won't have any effect whatsoever in the voting.

I really don't want to disregard injuries that happened after the draft. I just think it will be too difficult to keep track of. If you're worried about the Monta Ellis situation, I don't think it will have a big impact on this tournament. The only way it would would be if the team who has him is borderline top 8, and voters think him missing about 20 games makes the difference. If a player who has been drafted gets hurt and is out for the season (or close to it), I will allow the team who has them to drop them and add an undrafted player after the final round if they choose to do so."

Can I drop Monta and pick a player now. I already have 3 players with injury concerns and it will hurt my rotation.

Look Monta getting injured after drafting him is out of my control. This is already a wasted 5th pick for myself and im willing to drop him. Monta is a 20ppg scorer shooting nearly 53% from the field. Theres no more PG/SG out there can do that. Other teams can pick him up if they like with late picks.

The offer is Bosh, Haywood for Ming and I guess a 12th, we can discuss the addition of players like Billups, Williams, and my swing men depending on how big of a trade is deemed best, but I think the big man exchange is a good start.
