Blazer fan here

Post#1 » by ChadBC » Sat Aug 30, 2008 9:28 am

Hey, guys. No, this is not a trade proposition. But, I would like McCants or Gomes in Portland but that's never going to happen. :(

But, anyways, to the point. I just wanted to come here and wish you the greatest success next year. The T'Wolves are my favorite team outside of, obviously, Blazers and Jazz and the like. It made me sad to see you guys at the bottom of the standing last year, when really, you guys should be up there 10/11th spot. You guys have great talent at basically every position. You guys kind of remind me of Portland, honestly. Atleast, roster wise.

At the point, you got Foye. What a great young talent. He needs to learn some things about being a true point guard but every young player needs to learn something. I think he will really shine this year. And then, you got Telfair as a backup. ANOTHER great PG. I'd love to have him in Portland still, but it wasn't meant to be. You guys don't even really need a 3rd string PG because with these two players, you guys are stacked at the position.

Onto the 2 guard/point forward position. Let's see, you've got Mike Miller, a great 3 point shooter who I think will really make a great SF on this team, obviously he has already proven that with other teams. You've got Rashad McCants, which in my opinion is a great SG, some people will disagree but oh well. And then you've got Corey Brewer, who hasn't really proven anything YET, but he will be a great SF someday. I hope you hold onto him.

And then you've some tremendous bigs. Kevin Love, a big guy who can shoot the ball, post-up and has great vision. He'll be like a Brad Miller someday, but, IMO, better. You've also got Craig Smith and Ryan Gomes at the SF. I've been a Ryan Gomes fan for a long time. That is another guy I wish was on the Blazers, but again, realistically it's not going to happen. And at C, I guy who is undoubtedly a top 5 center in the league. But, you obviously know all that so I might as well spare it.

Obviously, you guys got the talent. I see you guys going somewhere with this very same roster in a couple years. Maybe not this year, but down the road.

So, after all that rambling about stuff you guys already know...I hope you guys have a good season and will talk to you guys later.

It's rare from a Portland fan to hear such praise. Kudos!

Just to note though, the Wolves weren't at the bottom. Seattle was in our division.

i suppose he was proposing a trade of gomes+McCants for outlaw and Fernandez?

I'd consider do that deal if we also get a draft pic or S Rod from that deal =)

nontheless its rare to see such a calm and nice blazer fan here.....all i remembered from other boards was blazer fans keep saying how LMA roy oden can bring them a champion or something and how the wolves are roaches.....

o well...good luk to ur blazers, it is undoubtly the team to watch next season and the most improved team for sure

I was just wondering, since B.Roy, Alderidge, and Greg are locked to start their positions, who will take the 2 starting wing spots for the blazers? Outlaw, Fernandez, Webster, Rodrigues, Blake or Bayless? Its quite impossible to fit all 6 in so i say someone gotta sacrifice some playing time.... thanks for the answer from a blazer fan's perspective~~~coz it affects my fantasy draft =)

Wanting McCants and Gomes is really just a pipe dream. Though we are already loaded both those positions so it wouldn't work out too well anyway. :D

But, anyway to answer your question...As of right now our starting line up is:

Blake
Roy
Webster
Aldridge
Oden

Bayless will probably come off the bench most in the second half to play both PG and SG, most likely to get to the line. Sergio probably won't get too much PT, unless injuries happen.

Rudy will probably share the court with Roy at the Point and Rudy at SG and MAYBE SF if we go small. I've also heard that Rudy might be able to play at the point but I guess we will all see. And Outlaw will be our spark off the bench once again this year, probably replacing Webster in thee fourth, or maybe sharing the court with Webster at SG and Outlaw at SF.

It's hard to say what's in McMillan's plans. He likes to throw in some weird combination's on the court when it comes to lineups.

I don't know if that answers your question, but that's what I came up with...so... :D

that helps a lot~~~I'll pick up Fernandez rather than sergio, and Bayless rather than webster in my late draft rounds then~

one more question, if u dont mind :D

will Ike Diogu even play?.....behind Oden, Minnesota pride Pryzibilla, and Frye.....i dont see he has minutes even tho he's a solid rotation player imo

He'll probably get 3-5 minutes. I like him a lot, and he deserves more. But, behind beasts like Joel "The Vanilla Gorilla" Przybilla and Aldridge, and so on...there's no chance. He'll probably be gone from this team around the trade deadline in February.

I kind of feel bad for Ike. He's a pretty decent player and either a team won't give him a chance, or he's on the sideline with injuries.

ya....i agree...feel kinda bad to him too, i'd deal him to the Grizzilies, who needs a PF badly if the rumored Randolph deal doesnt come through, maybe for a second rounder or a backup SF (Jacobson/Jaric?)...........the second rounder will be around 30-35 so its not too bad, since Ike is expendable anywayz....

I personally see this rotaion and minute distribution
Oden(34)/Przybilla(18)
LMA(31)/Frye(10)Diogu(3)
Webster(22)/Outlaw(22)
Roy(36)/Bayless(20)
Blake(16)/Fernandez(23)/sergio(5)

not too far off ?

Yep, that's pretty accurate. The only thing I'd change is Blake's minutes and maybe Fernandez/Bayless. Blake, I'd probably say gets around 23-25 minutes minutes per game while Fernandez gets about 20-23 and Bayless gets around 18.

PS my uncle lives on some street called Adler or Alder or soemthing, went last year so cant remember very clearly, either way, small world indeed, and again good luck to Portland with full strength this year and hope they dont have any injuries!
