BS replaced by Kyle Hightower?

Post#1 » by Optimus_Steel » Sun Aug 31, 2008 4:31 pm

I have noticed that BS hasent had an article in a while. Meanwhile Hightower has written several Magic articles and BS's recent blogs have actually been Hightowers blogs. So does that mean that BS is no longer the Magic's beat writer at the Sentinel? I hope so.

I really liked his article on Dwight today. The questions weren't the same old.

I would say that was one of the better Magic/Howard articles I have read in a while from Orlando Sentinel. I would still prefer to read stuff from Denton but Hightower did a good job. I hope BS is gone for good he is aweful.

The same thing happened last year. Think they let the junior interny types write during the offseason.

I'm sure he'll resurface around training camp.

BS doesn't write during the summer.

As of today, Brian Schmitz is still listed at Orlando Sentinel:

O-Sen: Schmitz

Also, in August, Schmitz posted on the basketblog.

You guys who are hoping that BS is fired may be punished by getting your wish. If you think he would be replaced, you don't get the newspaper, which has shrunk to about 2/3 of it's size last year. They are downsizing, and BS fired means you get Bianchi as the only guy covering the Magic.

I'm no fan of BS, but he isn't as bad as you make him out to be. I keep the Magic preview section of the paper and just looked to see what the guys said about the Magic before last season. Bianchi, of course, said they wouldn't make the playoffs while both Povtak and Schmitz said they would. They same was true the previous season. What caught my eye was the BS article on what 10 things the Magic had to do to make the playoffs and the 10 things that would keep them out of the playoffs. He was close to right on. Basically, the Magic did 8 of the 10 good things and avoided 8 of the 10 bad things. (Some were questionable, but that's my score.)

BS was not to be seen this time last year.

The Sentinel is downsizing big time, but replacing an older and higher salary would not surprise me either.

The sports section and newspaper in general has so little content it's become sad.

If you ask me, BS secretly likes the Magic. It's just something I've kinda picked up on over the last few years.
