ROFL.
AI isn't even a top 5 slasher alltime, isn't the GOAT slasher at the PG spot if u consider him a PG, and isn't the GOAT slasher at the SG spot if you consider him a SG.
He may be the most flashy slasher alltime tho, but that's it.

Iverson is the GOAT at being over-rated.
That is all.

Re: Is Iverson the GOAT in slashing?
Iverson SHOULD be the GOAT of slashing. I mean, look at his tools; amazing quickness and speed, even more amazing lateral quickness, his handles are so godly it looks like he's dancing with the ball, and not to mention that he has great basketball IQ when his eyes are open to the entire court instead of just the basket. If he was just less stubborn and didn't make it hard for GMs to build around him there's no doubt in my mind he would be the best slasher of all time.

Nash easily has better handles than Iverson.

Re: Is Iverson the GOAT in slashing?
No, finishing is part of slashing, and as a finisher Iverson, despite being great for his size, just isn't anywhere close bigger guys like Jordan, Drexler, Hill, Kobe, LeBron, etc who were similarly difficult to stay in front of. Most of Iverson's drives generally ended with him going to the ft line.
Iverson might be the quickest guy with the ball of all time, and the hardest to stay in front of. I mean hell, he broke Jordan's ankles not once, but twice in a 5 second span. His efficiency just high enough to be the greatest slasher ever. He got his high scoring averages by taking a lot of shots and getting to the ft line.

Prime Grant Hill was the best slasher that I recall. The man had no jump shot whatsoever so guys gave him 5 feet of space, and he still got around them at will. His first step was just unreal.
A young Michael Jordan (back in the days when he wore the gold necklace) deserves consideration too. Jordan didn't really hone that midrange jumpshot until his 4th or 5th year. During his first few seasons, all he did was blow past people and dunk on them to the tune of 35 points a game.

I don't consider that "freight train" approach of Barkley and LeBron to really be slashing. I think of slashing as penetration in a halfcourt set to create a shot for yourself around the rim or to collapse the defense for an assist. Among current players, Wade's combination of efficient around-the-basket scoring and dimes speak to his ability in this regard. Plus we've all seen the sick handles.
All-time I still go Jordan.

So LeBron doesn't drive to the basket in a halfcourt set and gets all his points off fastbreak?

Another key point. I'm 6'9" and people are forever saying to me "If I had your height I'd be in the NBA", and I have to refrain from telling them that when I was their height I was quicker than most of my peers, but with this height my quickness can't hang with even an average guy whose a foot shorter than me. The great big men of the NBA are impressive not just because of their height but because of how agile they are given that height.
+1 it frustrates me when people always think people who are really tall should be freakishly athletic.
I met a guy who was like 7'0'' once. We were talking and he mentioned that he gets a lot of questions about if he plays basketball. He made a custom shirt that said "no i dont play basketball, do you play minature golf?"
Off topic but i found it funny.

Re: Is Iverson the GOAT in slashing?
Hes relentless and he has great speed, The problem is that Iverson scores his points in an inefficient manner...
yeah hes great slasher, but the whole purpose of slashing is to score efficiently, and Iverson is very inefficient, its kinda defeats purpose....

when u look at all the best nba players in history... is AI the greatest when it comes to attacking the rim?
I guess actually making the baskets isn't being factored in here?

I guess you don't actually watch the cavs play? What you just described as slashing is pretty much their whole offense.

I have a hard time actually seeing the Cavs play because Mike Brown's "offense" makes my eyes bleed. Honestly, watching Cavs games is often pretty boring, which sucks because watching LeBron is great. I went to see him in person once in Miami, and all I got was the LeBron James freethrow clinic. 24-28 from the line, no dunks. Thanks, Riley.
