My Team

Post#1 » by skones » Tue Sep 2, 2008 6:20 pm

Standard head to head scoring. 12 teams.

QB: Drew Brees
RB: Adrian Peterson
RB: Fred Taylor
WR: Larry Fitzgerald
WR: Roy Williams
WR: Patrick Crayton
TE: Kellen Winslow
DEF: Minnesota
K: Robbie Gould
Bench: Chris Perry
Bench: Chris Johnson
Bench: Aaron Rodgers
Bench: Derrick Mason
Bench: Vince Young

I think Mason may be better than Crayton when it's all said and done, but I'm going to play Crayton the first couple weeks until I get an idea of what the Ravens offense will be like. I realize Kenny Watson may be the guy in Cincinnatti so Chris Perry may be on the outs. Chris Johnson should be the starter for the Titans. A great year by him would do wonders for me giving me depth in case of an injury to Purple Jesus or a heavier workload for Maurice Jones Drew. I really think Rodgers will end up throwing 24 TD's with 14 INT's. If that happens, I got solid value at that pick. The last round was just a throw away. Vince Young was available and he has a nice upside if he works out.

Thoughts?

I honestly might just give the start Chis Johnson out of the box. Fred Taylor is in some legal trouble and isn't all that great anyways. The Titans run the ball like crazy and Ledal White just isn't that good. Also having 3 QBs on your team is pointless imo and Young isn't any good. I'd take a gamble on Sporles from the Chargers, Ray Rice from the Ravens or Meachum from the Saints instead.

For a team with no flex position, you’re carrying a lot of backs on your roster. It’s not a bad practice to start the season, especially with Fred Taylor on your roster, but I’d suggest selling high on one of them. Given the buzz about him, Chris Johnson may net you a bigger haul, but Perry’s status as the unencumbered starter (so far) may generate more interest league-wide. I’d probably suggest trading either for a top-tier receiver or a better back-up QB.

Speaking of QBs: yuck. Yeah, I know in 12-team leagues QB depth is a luxury, not a necessity but if something happens to Brees, you’re screwed. I don’t buy into Rodgers and I’m not a big VY fan for fantasy purposes.

Finally, you need receiving depth. Crayton and Mason are nowhere near viable 3rd receivers for championship teams. You could probably address that by trading one of your backs, as I said before. Hell, package along VY and see if you can get a QB in tow as well…

who were you picking against, a bunch of 3 year olds? drew brees and adrian peterson? larry fitz and kellen winslow? roy williams? get out of that league immediately and move up to the adult league for some competition. at least some guys who are knowledgeable about who they pick.

I have come to realize that I think I completely disagree with all your player evaluations.
Crayton will have an outstanding year this season as long as he is your WR3.
Mason is a great backup, but not a very good every week starter, but as of now, he is just that, his bye week fill in.
Aaron Rodgers?
I think he will be much more than solid.
And how is he carrying a lot of backs?!
2 on his bench is a lot?

Skones, Perry will be the guy unless he gets injured or is horrific.
The Bengals didn't draft this kid high for nothing, the problem is just that though, he is always injured through his young career. He can catch the ball out of the backfield, which should aide him in Cincy, figuring Rudi never could.

But do not trade Chris Johnson.

This kid is going to be absurd by midseason, and even though barring injury he will probably split carries with White all year, look for Johnson to get 60% easy by midseason, up to maybe 70% or more, and he will get all the RB receptions.

Edit:By the way, I think one of your weak links, at least at reciever is Roy Williams.
Yes it is true it is his contract year, but HE IS ALWAYS INJURED. ALWAYS. Trade him for another top tier 2 reciever.
See if you can't pawn him off for Santonio Holmes, or for Calvin Johnson, Torry Holt, Cotchery, maybe Brandon Marshall if someone is dumb enough or even Steve Smith.
