OT: Google Chrome

Anyone tried it yet?? Im liking it so far, it looks and feels clean, seems to be a good candidate in replacing firefox, but not yet, specially it being in beta and no add ons what so ever, even though it shouldnt take too long for that to happen . yeah looks kinda nice...wasn't that fast to me though but i'll check it again soon.. still going to use firefox for a while until they have adblockers and extensions and all that...

Alternative to Firefox is Opera....try it at Opera.com i feel it's faster then Firefox

I don't think Chrome is all that important as a competitor to Firefox and/or IE.

Chrome's important is in its strategic implications leading to a computing experience in which the underlying OS is irrelevant.

If you buy into 'cloud computing' as a future direction of technology, then a simple, lightweight, portable browser (eg, Chrome) that can be the 'interface' between a device (computer, appliance, TV perhaps) and things like Google Apps and GMail eliminates the need for a heavy-duty PC running Windows.

Microsoft is probably rolling out the PR Guns even as we all type.

YEAH WHAT HE SAID.. Sorry RickB, I lost you when you started saying cloud computing to interface.. lol, Too much technological terms for me.

Are you telling me, that with google chrome, we can eliminate windows or we can eliminate trying to buy this big computer to run programs?

I think I'll wait til this starts going worldwide before I touch this subject again.

Both, and that's why Microsoft is so mad these days over Google. If their plan is effective, in ten years we won't need so much "local" resources because everything will be stored on servers and accessed via small and very portable devices.

If you think about it, we can do already a lot of work without using the "bloatware" of years past.

im using chrome and like it a lot so far. if i will replace firefox with it, i am not sure yet, but this is definitely nice.

I'll definitely have to take a look. Everything Google does is done well: Google, Gmail, Google Earth, Picasa, even Google Desktop.

Yep. I'm loving it. Really quick and the fact that it runs each browser as an instance makes it really stable so far on my system
