The bears have named their five captains
On defense, no surprise as its Urlacher and M. Brown. On Special Teams its Pat Mannelly and on offense its Kreutz and KYLE ORTON.
Is anyone else shocked that Orton has been named a captain. In my opinion Orton is not qualified to be a captain as it is his first year as a true starting QB (not via injury or anything). I think Booker or D. Clark are more deserving.

Probably trying to build up KOs confidence a bit. Or maybe they're just that confident in him?
I'm kinda interested to see how this year goes for the guy.

I don't know about Orton being a captain when his status as a starter is shaky. This is just the Bears in denial that their QB situation is terrible. Start Hanie for pete's sake!

Why not have Orton as a team captain? Doesn't the team vote on this? If so, that's a good sign.

Makes sense to me given the QB is the field general of your offense and I don't get the impression Orton will have a short leash or anything. He'll be given every oppotunity to prove himself IMO. More of a symbolic gesture than anything.

Re: Bears name captains
Why would we ever consider Booker a team captain?? Just because he's old and played here 4 or 5 years ago?
I think the team made the right choices, on this front at least.
