Beating a Dead Horse........

So, around 50 days till the season kicks off, no football till Sunday and my fantasy team is lame, so.....

To beat a dead horse how bout this trade?

NJ sends:

Swift
KVH contract
SWAT or Boone
2nd round pick, possibly a heavily protected 1st
Cash considerations

NJ recieves:

Rasheed Wallace

Obviously this trade only happens if Dumars is determined to shake things up and wanted to start his mainly youth movement now, right now.
Detroit saves a lot of money, gets another promising piece to the puzzle in a talented young big man with a lot of potential, a 2nd round pick and he opens the door to trade Rip and possibly Billups.

For NJ, we bring in a low risk high reward star PF to start next to Lopez, and clear some of the jam at PF/C by doing a 2 for 1, bringing back a player that only needs and/or should be on the floor around 30 MPG.
He is an expiring, so if we wanted to keep him, yes it messes up future cap room, but we could do a S&T in the offseason for a 1st rounder to recoup the pick we sent out for him.

It actually gives us a very well rounded lineup to make a 1 year run at it:

PG Harris/ Dooling
SG VC/ CDR/ Hayes
SF Simmons/ Hayes/ Najera/ Anderson/ Yi/ Hassell
PF Wallace/ Yi/ Najera/ Boone or Swat/ Anderson
C Lopez/ Boone or Swat/ Yi

Nice mix of youth, vets, speed, post up and half court, defense and offense, inside/outside and a lot of depth.

Even if it strictly made us a 1st or 2nd round playoff team it would be nice to get our young guys playoff experience.
It would ruin our chances at another lottery pick though.

Just a thought, although I don't see Dumars dealing Wallace until the deadline.

Eh I really don't want Sheed when we're trying to build around characte guys. I still like him though, but not at the expense of Swat or Boone.

If need be, Stro/Hassel/GSO's pick for Sheed/2009 2nd rounder. Still, I can't see our management even thinking about him.

I agree he's just not the right character we need with a team full of young players. Plus it'll make us a middle of the road team again which is what we don't want to be right now. What we need is a nice solid pick in the lottery to try and build on our future. IMO management is doing a great job so far.

nope, too old, isnt a main player type, hes a very good role player, for him to come here and except him to drop 15-20 pts a night is hard, plus he will start complaining after the losing...

Why would the Pistons look to shed salary (Van Horn) when the good part of this years free agent market has past?

This is just a really bad/pointless trade for both sides.

Nets don't want/need Sheed and The Pistons don't have any use for any of those guys othen then Swat or Boone.

The Pistons - who are trying to win now - would be marginally worse off.

The Nets - who are trying to build for the future - would be marginally better, but still have a losing record.

No one benefits from this, so no one would do it.
