well, it's been a loooong time since there is a game/series thread here but today's game puts morrow in his debut as a mariners starting pitcher and vs. the yankees.
there really isn't much to say about this teams, so i'll just wish morrow a good game and let the M's take away this series!

Nice call, Mamba. This ought to be interesting today.
The season is basically over, the final question left unanswered is whether the team gets to 63 wins. IIRC they need to win over half their remaining games, so I don't like their chances. Los Yanquis are on pins and needles right now so hopefully Morrow doesn't get rocked and does get a win.

Great outing by Morrow, I didn't want to get too excited for a no-no, since his pitch count was limited, but it was fun while it lasted. 7.2 IP 1 run, 1 hit, 3 BB, 8 K's; not a bad line at all.

Re: Yankees @ Mariners
I was at the bar with friends. We asked one friend if he was planning on joining us and he said "no, gotta get home to watch Morrow." I laughed at him...but when the ESPN ticker showed what was going on in the sixth inning I ran outside and called him to see what was going on.
If Morrow can throw strikes and mix his pitches like he did tonight, holy cow...a 1-2-3 punch of Felix/Morrow/Bedard is pretty damn impressive. It's not Felix/Morrow/Tillman but...oh well...

Re: Yankees @ Mariners
great game! i had the chance of watching it and i saw a pretty good M's team, good offense, good defensive plays specially by balentien and of course a great game by morrow.
and i was impressed how morrow looked for it being his first game and vs. yankees. he looked calm and smooth in control of his pitches and it was awesome how he only got one hit. i think he was tired around the 90 count but he still had some good stuff.

I'd take this opportunity to taunt BBJ for insisting on keeping Morrow in the bullpen, but, you know, sample size, etc. Still, what a game. He kept his velocity into the 8th inning, showed four good pitches, stayed ahead in the count and kept the Yankees off balance most of the game.
Just as surprising: the defense came together. Truth be told, defense was really the difference between Morrow and Pettitte last night. Really, each just gave up one solid hit, by Betemit and Tuiasosopo, respectively. On the M's side, Betancourt made two nice plays, Cairo snagged that liner, and best of all, Balentien showed he could cover a lot of ground in center (even if his catches weren't pretty, he got it done).

Re: Yankees @ Mariners
Best Mariners game I've seen in a long while. Only reason I turned it on was because I wanted to see how Morrow would do, and I caught it in the 5th inning, seeing the Yanks with ZERO hits. Was hooked up until the end.
Anyone hear that Riggs was saying he would have pulled Morrow if he had the no-no going into the 9th because he didn't want Morrow throwing 120 pitches? BLASPHEMY!
But to add to what Sweezo said, even a combo of Felix/Morrow/Bedard/Rowland-Smith looks pretty damn good right now. RRS has been great as a starter.

Riggleman said it would be a "tough call", but he talked to Brandon in the 7th and he said "he felt fine" and "if I got the no no going im going to pitch the 9th" Riggleman said "thats something that would be hard to stop" but he was glad he didnt half to make the call. Good call Mamba on the thread BTW.

Heh, in Sunday's game I turned off the TV to take a swim after 2 innings, with the M's in a 2-0 hole against Mussina who has historically owned them. I figured I'd had enough disappointment for the day after the Seahawks' big stinker. Guess I missed a good game.

Re: Yankees @ Mariners
well, taking it 2-1 vs. the yankees is a good thing, specially when i know that the M's had a very good 1st game and it seems that the 2nd win was also a good game.
