Zach Randolph to Memphis?

THE PROPOSED TRADE:

Memphis Trades:
Darko Milicic
Marko Jaric

New York Trades:
Zach Randolph

Looks like all that needs for this trade to go down is acceptance from the Knicks. Being a Grizzlies fan, II'll take this deal any day of the week. Good deal or bad deal for Memphis? I say great deal. We get rid of the king of all busts, Darko Milicic, and we get rid of this overpayed player, Marko Jaric for a guy that can score and grab boards.

Both teams get what they want. Memphis gets a scoring PF, NY gets rid of Z-Bo and his salary. It looks slightly better for Grizzlies, maybe the trade would look more fair if they throw in Crittenton and Knicks Collins.

It looked good for NY when they got Randolph... look at them now. IMO throwing Randolph in there with Gay, Mayo, and Conley is a little insane, but at least Memphis will have a volume rebounder on the roster.

I would keep Zach away from the Memphis youngsters. He is going to bring bad professionalism and terrible attitude to Mem. Not the guy you want leading that team. NY would be ecstatic to get rid of Zach, what does that tell you?

This 20 second video sums up Zach the player and the person better than words: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3j1q6osDAEc

With Marbury out and Zach gone, I could watch the Knicks again.

I have no idea why Memphis would do this. Gasol, Gay and Mayo are oozing with potential. Sure, they'll lose a lot this year, but they will all develop and become better with time. Adding Zach Randolph to the mix is dangerous and will probably (Please Use More Appropriate Word) their development.

Don't do it Memphis!

I think its great for New York. They dump Zach Randolph and add players who fit their offense.

5) Darko Milicic/Eddy Curry/Jerome James
4) David Lee/Jared Jeffries/Malik Rose
3) Wilson Chandler/Danilo Gallinari/Quentin Richardson/Patrick Ewing
2) Jamal Crawford/Mardy Collins/Anthony Roberson
1) Chris Duhon/Nate Robinson/Marko Jaric/Stephon Marbury

They would have to waive two guys but with the Knicks I don't know who that would be.

For the Grizzlies it's kinda ironic considering Pau has a very similar contract but I guess since they're offering they would do it.

5) Marc Gasol/Hamed Haddadi
4) Zach Randolph/Hakim Warrick/Darrell Arthur/Antoine Walker
3) Rudy Gay/
2) OJ Mayo/Greg Buckner/
1) Mike Conley Jr./Javaris Crittenton/Kyle Lowry

They're still very thin on the wings though.

Zach Randolph has quickly become the most underrated talent in the NBA. He did not fit in well at all with the Knicks culture but he is a proven 20 and 10 player and he will thrive in Memphis. Yes, he is a hesitant passer and a below average defender (and hes also overpaid) but Darko and Jarco are two established misfits in the NBA - they never fit in with any team. This is a great trade for Memphis as they uprade heavily in talent and ability to score. The Grizz biggest question mark coming into this season was rebounding but a healthy Z-BO can rebound with the best of them. Thumbs up from the Memphis side.

Thats going to be terrible for Memphis . Bringing in Zach Randolph on a team without any kind of veteran leadership on the team ( well mb Antoine Walker :o ) is asking for trouble .

I don't see why Memphis bothers with Randolph if they're a few years from competing. They traded Gasol away, and now they want to take on Randolph, who plays the same position less effectively, has a nearly identical contract, and has attitude concerns that rival Pau's. Then they traded Kevin Love, a great prospect with Zach's skillset but none of the garbage. I realize Memphis isn't giving up much here, but if there's truth to this rumor it means they've been a player transactions mess of late.

Mixed feelings about this for Memphis, but my guess is that the salary savings are worth more to them than Zach Randolph. Just as long as they don't expect anything of the incoming players.

As an initial matter, I'm not a fan of bringing Zbo to the Grizz at all - but because these things are out of the hands of us fans, I could live with a Jaric & Darko for Zbo deal (if it has to go down) with NYK agreeing to pay some of Zbo's salary in 2010-11 (I believe this is the proposed deal - at least according to the local Grizz beat writer's blog). At least financially, it wouldn't really screw the Grizz up at all (until year 3); personality and chemistry-wise, it is a different matter altogether though. Hopefully, it doesn't happen; but if it does, this is the best way to polish that turd of a deal.

Why would Memphis do this? Hasn't every move they've made over the last year or so been about cap space?

If I'm NYK, I'm ecstatic. Randolph has talent, but he just doesn't get it. Who knows; maybe Darko will finally unleash that potential under Mr. Pringles.

Which Team Gets the Better Deal?

Easy. The team that does not have Zach Randolf after the trade. Terrible idea.

Wasn't Wallace ran off from his last GM for doing crappy trades that hurt the team? Watching the way things are being handled in Memphis and the moves they have made over the last 12 months or so, it is easy to see he did not learn his lesson after the 1st job.

compare milic's stats to randolph's and it's obvious why memphis would agree to that trade.

if anything walsh will not do it because of how useless jaric will be for the next 3 years.

So... You trade Pau Gasol then you want to replace him with Zack Randolph?
