If Nene were to prove healthy all season and able to produce at his former level, I'd consider it.

If we can eventually land a big, strong, top-of-the-line back-up PF for (edit: Lewis), then I'd probably rather have him as well. We're going to need more size up front to realistically go deep in the playoffs.

Bleh, accidently mixed up my post.

I meant if we can do so for Lewis, not Hedo. Hedo's playing time would take a small hit, but then Lewis could move to SF and we'd have an impact PF in the game next to Howard for stretches of a game.

I would consider the Nene deal because it would put Lewis back at SF, and we'd get a high-quality, young PF in exchange. Again, this is assuming that Nene proved to be healthy, and was contributing at his pre-injury pace.

After researching which teams MAY need a SF and have expendable PF's and/or PG's (our 2 positions that still have significant needs) I came up with Portland, Indiana, and Philly. Philly jumped out at me because they are STACKED with bigs, with Reggie Evans, Jason Smith, Dalembert, Speights, Brand, Marshall, and Ratliff. They also just paid big bucks to Louis Williams and believe he is their PG of the future. So, could we get them to do a deal of Hedo and Redick for Andre Miller, and then the TPE for Speights? We could make Meer our 6th man, start Tony at PF, use Cook to give Speights some time to develop. It gives us a formidable starting 5, spread out with defense and offense, plus some young studs in Lee and Speights to develop with Dwight.

better than the Denver idea imo (can't trust nene's health) BUT

I read somewhere that Philly was working on an extension for Miller so I don't believe they want to trade him

I've cooled off the trade Hedo phase. He needs to stay and play out his contract and then let the pieces fall where they may. Trading him is just too risky, even compared to him just walking out after this year, imo.

I'd consider the trade with Denver if Nene was 100% healthy. However this is somewhat of what I'd like to see if the Magic were to decide to trade Hedo. Maybe it's too much on our end.

ORLANDO RECEIVES:
LaMarcus Aldridge(17.8ppg,7.6rpg)
Travis Outlaw(13.3ppg,4.6rpg)

PORTLAND RECEIVES:
Chris Wilcox(13.1ppg,7rpg)
Hedo Turkoglu(19.5ppg,5.7rpg,5apg)
Mouhamed Sene(2.3ppg,1.2rpg)
Future 1st(ORL)

OKLAHOMA CITY RECEIVES:
Joel Pryzbillia(4.8ppg,8.4rpg,1.2bpg)
JJ Redick(4.1ppg)
Rights to Fran Vasquez

PG - Nelson/Johnson
SG - Pietrus/Lee
SF - Lewis/Outlaw/Bogans
PF - Aldridge/Cook/Gortat
C - Howard/Battie/Foyle

The Denver idea is a bad idea and I would be really upset if they did that. Nene is injury prone and never seems to play up to his contract.

The other idea about Philly I would like a lot but as someone else said, I think Philly is going to give Miller an extension so that would mean he isn't on the market. But I would definitely be interested in this deal.

In general, teams both on an upswing do not like to trade in Conference. So, a Philly/Orlando deal might not be probable. But what about Portland? Deals that work include Turkoglu/Cook for Przybilla/Frye. Whilst this might be a good move for both teams, this is the kind of deal GM Smith warns won't happen. So ...

... we'll see.

I would only deal with Portland if they include Sergio Rodriguez. He has Calderon written all over him.

I have long said something like Hedo and Bogans (or JJ) for Frye, Outlaw, and Rodriguez would be stupendous for both teams.

Frye, while not a banger, has proven to be a solid player when given minutes. Outlaw is a great off the bench spark at 3 that we would need if we lost Hedo, and as I already said, Rodriguez would be a very good 3rd PG to groom.

I wouldn't mind such a deal if Battie was exchanged for somebody else...and if I was more confident in Nene's health.

Then again, any Hedo trade is just going to solve one gap and create another. This team will grind to a hault offensively without Hedo around.

I don't like the trade for Nene and Chucky. Nene is more of a center and hasn't lived up to expectations, and getting Atkins isn't strong enough to make this a decent trade for us. I'd rather trade Hedo and Battie for K-Mart. He's not the player he used to be since his injury, but he's still a very athletic four that would bring us better balance. I don't see that happening though, but I'd consider it. I think we could do better elsewhere anyway if we were shopping Hedo.

Yet again, what teams need a SF?

Another option may be Phoenix. Perhaps something like Hedo, Battie, and JJ for Barbosa, Diaw, and Alando Tucker (to shore up SF depth)?

hell no...absolutely horrible idea...

I'll take Atkins as a backup for us, no problem, but outside of that, nothing about this deal works for me...
