When you factor in the sequence of the Vikings possession, followed by our punt return for a TD, followed by another Vikings possession and then our three play drive on the Grant 57 yard run, that explains it.

Edit: We also had a quick 4 play drive early in the 2nd quarter thanks to the Rodgers/Jennings pass.

The Packers had more big time plays (long Jennings catch, Blackmon return for TD, Grant run). That is why the Vikes ran more plays.

Vikings only averaged 5.1 yards per play, run or pass. That is pretty good.

That's one of the paradoxes of football. Sometimes scoring too quickly (the punt return TD in this case) is a bad thing against a team with a great running game that is wearing down your defense. And if you Kevin Gilbrides don't agree with me I'm gonna call Buddy Ryan and have him come over and beat you up. (Obscure, I know, but what the heck, we won!)

Well I know a ton of fans that bash Thompson around this state that would love to have that Oakland team on our field. We should all be jealous.

This is the recipe for success everyone wants:
1. Big splash free-agent signings and trades like DeAngelo Hall, Javon Walker, etc.
2. High profile college player draft picks in the early rounds.

Championship!

I think you may be on to something with emulating the Raiders. If we can just get Brian Brohm to put on 80 pounds maybe he'll be as good as JaMarcus Russell.

Very happy with and for Aaron Rodgers. Very saavy.
Like other said - Rod kept himself & team cool despite stupid early penalties. Very mature.
Great thread the needle off balance TD pass to Hall. Very Brett like.
Great arm on nullified TD to Driver.
Rod can run! Love it. Adds a whole nother threat.

Only two minor flaws
Jennings had to wait for his pass or that would have been another TD.
Rod way over threw Lee wide open in end zone.

Chad Clifton handled Allen pretty well. We got one of the best pass blocking OTs period. He did have a holding and offsides call.
OL? Other than ridiculos penalties - they were OK. Get Wells & Sitton back and we may be OK.

Kampman is simply great.
Pickett actually applied pass pressure a couple times.
KGB looked as quick as ever.
Solid run D. Jolly got in the groove. Cullen started bad but got it going.

Al Harris looked almost fast out there. Seems He' may still got a season left in the tank.

LBs were good but not dominant.

Ryan Grant !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brandon Jackson? Is it too late to get Morency back? And I don't mean instead of Lumpkin.

Willl Blackmon - finally healthy - finally Pack has a return threat.
Jordy Nelson showing signs he MAY be a fine KR also.

Frost did darn good. a little weak at end.
ST looked like our sharpest unit tonight. Very good.

Sweet win!
Still a long season.

To clarify that second statement for everyone now that I think of it...there is nothing wrong with drafting a guy from a big name school early on, people just need to control their hard-ons for some of them as well as give a guy like Greg Jennings a shot.

It doesn't even have to be Morency. Just somebody who isn't a gigantic pussy.

You're right, Favre would have thrown that one 70 on a frozen rope instead of the 60 that Rodgers did.

Not a single QB in the NFL leads Jennings into the endzone on that play.

No kidding. I have no idea what was up with that crap but I've never in my life seen a running back, be it in the NFL, College, High School or Pop Warner be so afraid of getting hit. He basically slowed down and then kind of half went down whenever a defender was near him.

It's weird. When he gets in space sometimes he lays the lumber and is very elusive. But most of the time in the interior line he looks like Jared Allen if he was a running back.

The kid played really, really well tonight; I'm behind him completely.

Can't really say anymore that's already been said in this thread, but I will say this, my wife really PISSED me off tonight. For the most part, she's been really low key with all of the Favre drama this off-season, but tonight, her true colors showed; it was snide comment after snide comment directed at Rodgers, even when he was making great plays; her blind faith for Favre came out and I was disgusted.

Eventually I called her an idiot and said I refused to watch anymore games with her this season; she ran upstairs and I haven't heard from her since. F*** it, I'm tired of people bashing Aaron because Favre is gone; there is absolutely no basis for their hatred. I probably won't get laid for awhile, but I don't care.

Geez, I guess I need to work on my double-entendres.

Return to Green Bay Packers
