What to do with Wes Welker?

Post#1 » by Bleeding Blue » Tue Sep 9, 2008 12:09 am

Now that Tom Brady is done for the season what should I do with Wes Welker? Should I keep him in hopes that Cassel works out or try to deal him? Also....what are your opinions on McGahee this year?

I'd play a wait and see game with Welker (especially if you're on a deep league). McGahee though i don't have high hopes on. I actually drafted him (thank you IE for crashing). He's sitting on the bench for now, but I don't expect him to blow up anytime soon.

i'd keep welker for a while, no one is going to lineup to get him with brady out, so there won't be a lot of value if you would be able to move him at all

Welker runs timing routes primarily out of the slot. He’s got good hands and excellent route-running technique. All these things are assets to an inexperienced QB trying to complete passes against heavy pressure.

Keep him.

Are you seriously recomennding dropping Welker for a rookie WR whose load is going to going to drop once Marshall comes back next week and DB's realize that he's not just "another rookie"

Sheesh, you just lost all credibility

my advice is all for free, some people doubted the reggie bush vs. brown . . . look what happened. i told them dump and do not start donald driver this week . . . you know the result. secondly, unless you are giving me a quote directly from the coach in regards to a serious drop in play vs. brandon marshall . . . you are just guessing. this kid just sliced and diced mr. hall. and he aint no slouch as a db. are you saying that the coach is just going to overlook this type of production against hall and drop him to the bench? where is your information coming from? now talk about loss of credibility. someone who actually thinks that this type of performance deserves to be benched. wow.

secondly, cutler is a guaranteed gunner. this guy has a golden arm. his pocket presence and mobility have had some serious upgrades since last season. so are you saying a backup QB, although a quality one from USC, but are you saying a quality backup QB is going to get the job done week in week out for the rest of the season? cmon man, get it together. you need to add together all of the pieces and put your information on the table. rather than just throw out guessing conjectures and blase' blase' comments.

You're right. He had a great game. The Raiders looked terrible in all facets and I expect Royal to be a good WR even though he's a shrimp at 5'10 but where in your last statement do you debate him being better than Wes Welker?

That's what my comment was towards.

I'd try to deal him for somebody on the same tier as he was on with Brady or a tier below IMMEDIATELY.

Thanks for the replies everybody....I think i might hold on to him for a couple of weeks in hopes that he has a big/decent game and then maybe try to trade him...hopefully his stock will rise again...i just think if I trade him now I won't get anything for him....
