NBA TV to Give Fans Right to Vote

Post#1 » by dreamcloud » Tue Sep 9, 2008 5:09 am

The National Basketball Association will once a week allow fans to vote on which games are televised during the upcoming season on NBA TV.

Dubbed Fan Night, starting on Tuesday Oct. 28 fans can log onto NBA.com and vote for which game will be broadcast on the following Tuesday
. The interactive fan vote will continue to decide which league game is televised on Tuesdays throughout the season (NBA TV will showcase a total of 96 games this year).

To promote its 10-year-old network, the league is also planning to make NBA TV available free to cable and satellite subscribers during a free preview Oct. 28 to Nov. 4. The network’s first game telecast is set for Nov.1, featuring the Washington Wizards visiting the Detroit Pistons.

Pretty cool feature. They should let us choose a couple of the ESPN games as well, to avoid Miami-heat type debacle scenarios from happening every single week

why would you need to choose ESPN games when they're gonna be broadcast anyway. Besides, if you have NBA TV, you have ESPN so it would be overkill. I hope they put on GS, Sac, Memphis, MIlwaukee on it because i barely if ever see them play.

Good idea.

Fellow RealGMers... Just like Rickrolling with the Mets, we are gonna have to do something about this voting. Any other Machiavellical minds around here that would join me for a rigging of the votes? (Muahahaha)

Welcome to Rockets games every Tuesday. Nothing like having an entire nation voting for your team.

dammit NBA, stop letting fans vote for ANYTHING. The All Star game has already been ruined, now you want to ruin the broadcasts too?

This is just the first step on our path to a full basketball democracy.

If I'm not mistaken the NBA has flex scheduling(like NBC's Sunday Night Football), for scenarios like this. So they can change the game to a more favourable match up. If I am wrong about flex scheduling then ABC/ESPN/TNT or the NBA sure as hell need to implement it.
