McCabe Officially Traded To Florida

Post#1 » by WEFFPIM » Wed Sep 3, 2008 1:23 am

To Florida:
Brian McCabe
2010 4th Round Draft Pick

To Toronto:
Mike Van Ryn

Pretty much been waiting for this for a month now, but it's officially done. Thoughts?

No thoughts on it really. Toronto just finally finds a sucker to take on McCabe and his contract.

My thoughts, word for word.

Whatever the Leafs are doing, it makes no sense. they dump a bunch of salary just to add new bad salary (bought out Tucker and Raycroft, signed Finger). Dumping McCabe is a good thing only if they are for sure tanking. But I get the feeling they don't want to tank and will again be mediocre and have a late top 10 pick. and be mediocre again next year. If they sign Sundin this year that will be the icing on the cake. they'll finish something like 10th in the east.

Can you say "John Tavares sweepstakes", boys and girls?

All they need to do now is bring in Burke and their race for the 1st draft pick will be ready to go.

That's a little generous, don't you think?

Leaf fans were rather harsh with McCabe. He isn't a bad defenseman, I think he'll do rather well in Florida. It was time to part ways with him though.
