You have to keep in mind, Doug, that a good # of those carries were in garbage clock-killing time when KJones didn't have a chance

That's not really true, his ypc was higher in the 4th quarter at the end of the game than it was prior to that.

True : 3.0 vs 3.86 but we're talking all of 4 carries that took place in mid-3Q versus 7 carries in the 4Q.

It does make it all the more impressive, though, that he had runs of 9 and 12 yds in the 4th quarter when the Colts were playing run all the way. It's the garbage time runs of 1, 2, and -4 in the 4Q that were ypc killers that I choose to discount given the conditions.

I loved the signing of Jones because it gives the Bears two competent NFL running backs instead of .1 (the combination of Benson+Peterson+Wolfe) and he can be very good in short bursts. For some reason he can't stay healthy, but he has the skills to start in this league for someone. I don't think he starts here, but I bet he is gone after this year (knocks on wood he stays healthy) and goes to a team (he is better than an Houston Texan running back thats for sure). So right now, the Bears get the motivated Jones for a year. Love it.

Has Adrian Peterson been replaced and if so, I wonder if we could get a low draft pick for him after someone loses their starting RB?

I doubt you'd get much for him. I prefer to keep AP anyway - he thrives on special teams.

I'm not wholly disagreeing with you which is why I made special mention in my original post that he ran better than the numbers. He had 2 nice runs on the day more or less. I'm still not convinced he does not suck, but I suppose it depends what you are aiming at. If you are trying to convince me that Kevin Jones can be a competent guy to run the ball 10 times a game or so then I'm not going to argue.

I don't think he could be a #1 back though.

probably right. Plus he's a great extra back to have in case of injury. I just don't know why the bears had 4 RBs active against the Colts.

BTW, I've started my search for your new avatar:

No - I don't want to imply he's anything better than a solid backup at this point until I see more.

I'll count this as progress then as you went from "he'll suck balls" to "I don't think he could be a #1".

Baby steps.

AHHHH !!!! :uhoh: Not good ! The last thing I want is for the Bears to have 9 wins going into the last game of the season with the playoffs on the line. I mean, I'll root for the Bears of course but at what price ?!? That angel one has to take the cake !

I think I've found yours by the way. I'm keeping it locked away - to be revealed only when I cash in.

Well I probably overstated my initial point. I'm too used to arguing fantasy football at which point he'd suck balls, but as an NFL backup on a minimum deal he's fine, and I've always thought that, but probably just didn't state my point correctly for the forum I was discussing in.
