Lakers sign another
By Elliott Teaford on September 10, 2008

The Lakers signed guard Brandon Heath, who played last season in France for the club team Entente Orleans 45 and averaged 12 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 25 games. He played with the Clippers summer league team in Las Vegas and averaged 5.6 points in five games. He was a standout at San Diego State before joining the pro ranks.
Heath isn't expected to make the team, but will probably get a good look during training camp, which starts Sept. 30 in El Segundo.

Here are Brandon Heath's college stats.
He is a 6-4' guard at 198lbs.

According to his final SDSU bio, Heath is the only player in the 86-season history of the Aztecs program to produce a 30-point scoring game in each of his four seasons. The team won 71 games during his four seasons as an Aztec, the second-highest total during a four-year span in school history. Heath helped lead the Aztecs to the 2006 NCAA Tournament and to the second round of the 2007 NIT. Heath attended Westchester High School in Los Angeles where he was a teammate Lakers forward Trevor Ariza.

well first and foremost none of these training camps signing are actually making the team. they just need to be signed in order to participate.

2nd of all, eric snow is about to go into medical retirement. bobby jackson is on the kings. darrell armstrong is FORTY.

luxuary tax.

if the Lakers were serious about getting a new point guard (other than to fill the preseason roster) I think S Livingston would be on their radar.

Man just reading this thread makes me want to praise mitch. Just think 2-3 years ago we were relying on signings like this to improve our roster. Before we were putting hopes into the likes of Smush Parker, old Aaron Mckie, and Shammond Williams. Now we got Fisher and Farmar... hell even Sun Yue is probably better than parker/mckie/williams. PG may be our weakest or 2nd weakest position, but our roster has made such a drastic improvement in 2 years.

We are quite good on pg right now, but I wouldnt count heath out having a shot to make the team. He played in my conference in High School, and he was a very solid player. Saw him a bit in SD as well, good mobility, good defender, court vision is there so I wouldn't be against him getting a shot.

Lakers are loaded with 6'3 to 6'5 guards. From Carl to our draft pick this year to Sun to a few others. Why not bring in some big guys just to make the roster for training camp a little more balanced.
