for Bulls:

Draft 2008 - Bulls select Rose instead of...

Wait, we DID Select Rose over anyone.

Thank god, I won't have to re-do this draft 5-10 years from today.

Charlotte. "With the 3rd pick of the 2006 draft, the Bobcats take Brandon Roy." Draft for need, what a novel concept.

Pistons
2003, Chris Bosh instead of Darko. Although I still think Larry Brown would've screwed him a bit.

Or the 1989 draft. Pistons could've taken Cliff Robinson instead of Kenny Battle. Robinson played for close to 2 decades, Battle played for parts of 5 seasons. To make matters worst, the Pistons traded Battles rights and Michael Williams (who put together 4 strong seasons with the Wolves and Pacers before an ACL injury basically took over) and Anthony Cook (parts of 4 seasons, 5 teams and not one of them was the Pistons).

Those 2 are kind of a tie, because either one could've helped keep the Pistons a top of the League in their collective eras.

And just for fun
The Bulls 2000 draft. 6 picks in the top 34, two of them top 7.

Mike Miller at 4, not Marcus Fizer
Take Chris Mihm at 7, but don't trade him to Cleveland for Jamal Crawford.
Marko Jaric at 24, not Dalibor Bagiric.
32-34; Michael Redd, Jake Voshkul, Edjuardo Najera instead of AJ Guyton, Voshkul, Khalid El-Amin.

Their roster would've had the following, Elton Brand, Ron Artest, Miller, Mihm, Jaric, Redd, and so on. Not to shabby for a team coming off of a 17 win season. (The real bulls would win 15 games in 2000-01).

I've been a Blazer fan for 30 years and have never heard of that Houston/Portland deal before. Anybody else hear of it? I know Clyde was only a 2nd year player at that point so he wasn't as special as he would later become, but I've just never heard that rumor before.

2002: Grabbing Nene and trading him to denver for McDyess over amare  Good decision there, dumbass. We could've had Camby mentoring Amare.

2005: Channing Frye over Andrew bynum, ISIAH PWNS DA DRAFT!!!! Although nate and lee were good picks, not as good as lee and monta would've but Nate had crazy hops that attracted isiah like a shiny object will attract a tard.

Chicago Bulls 2006 Draft
#2 LaMarcus Aldridge instead of Tyrus Thomas
#13 Rajon Rondo over Thabo Seflaosha

Summer
No trade Tyson Chandler, not sign Ben Wallace but rather sign Bonzi Wells to a cheap deal and Al Harrington

06-07 Chicago Bulls
Hinrich/Rondo
Gordon/Wells
Deng/Nocioni
Harrington/Aldridge
Chandler/Allen

07 Bulls let Nocioni walk, move Harrington to the bench and draft Spencer Hawes (need the offensive C)

Hinrich/Rondo
Gordon/Wells
Deng/Harrington
Aldridge/Harrington
Chandler/Hawes

Warriors could have taken Keith Willis rather than Chris Washburn. Washburn, picked #3, barely lasted 2 NBA seasons and I doubt he ever started. Willis played till about age 40.

GSW drafts Kevin Garnett instead of Joe Smith and Amare instead of M Dunleavy...no explaination needed. GSW takes Thurl Bailey instead of Russell Cross. Cross 2-3 NBA seasons, seldom played. Bailey...about a 12 yr career. Obvously GSW does not use Robt Parrish to trade up for JB Carroll, instead takes Kevin McHale at #3

Since GSW never bothered to see if O'Bryant could play, anyone who'd still be on the roster would be good. GSW didn't let Diogu do what he does best-so Bynum or Granger would have been better, though Bynum probably would have been abandoned already.

Being a Warrior fan can be brutal. If there was a trophy for dumb or wasted drafts and dumb or wasted trades...we'd need a bigger shelf. Hell...we'd need a bigger room.

GSW pretty much wasted about 10 more rd 1's that I could mention,so pretty much anyone who'd have stuck as a usable sub would have been a plus.

Cruel_Ruin wrote:I would love to redo a bunch of the latest drafts, but alas, Geoff Petrie is such a good drafter

2006: Rajon Rondo over Quincy Douby (Legitimate mistake here. I bet Petrie's kicking himself over that one)
2005: David Lee over Francisco Garcia (Who is a damn good player himself, potential 6MOY candidate)
2004: Nobody over Kevin Martin
2003: Josh Howard instead of trading the pick (traded to get under lux tax)
2002: Boozer instead of trading our pick (traded to get under lux tax)
2001: Arenas over Gerald Wallace (We had supposedly given Arenas a promise too...)
2000: Nobody over Hedo Turkoglu (No, not even Mike Redd)

In general, I'm happy over our draft history for the past few years because we've had such late picks.

And I could even justify pretty much all of those. His biggest mistake in recent years was probably Gerald Wallace....with a late 1st rounder. That's insane. 03 and 04--I mean yeah, we'd rather have those guys, then the extra money, but even then it's not the GM's fault.

06 looks to be the biggest mistake, but I would doubt that Geoff is even kicking himself--at least not for Rondo. Geoff is pretty anti-any player that can't shoot, much less a PG. If I were to pick anyone who came after Quincy, it would be a big--maybe Powe or Millsap.

Wait, we DID Select Rose over anyone.

Thank god, I won't have to re-do this draft 5-10 years from today.

Thats a nice crystal ball you've got there. And to think, I had the nerve to consider starting a thread asking how many years we have to wait until we declare Beasley the better player than Rose (since some Bulls fans STILL think Tyrus could wind up better than LMA, lol).

I'm still trying to figure out why the celtics drafted Gabe Pruitt and not Aaron Gray in the second round of the 07 draft. Getting the baby was great and with gray would have added even more bulk and height to the frontline. Gray looks better than noah who stinks. How about the celts getting tracy mcgrady with one of the two picks in the 97 nba draft. 2000 nba draft anybody but jerome moiso. Teams are also going to regret passing on billwalker if the knee holds up thank you washington.

Wolves keep Ray Allen instead of trading for Marbury.

1995: Joe Smith over KG

1996: Todd Fuller over Kobe, Peja, Nash, JO

2002: Mike Dunleavy and Jiri Welsh over Amare, Boozer, Butler

Then Ike, and Patrick weren't really ever put into our system I'd change that draft as well.
