Yeah, can you believe that? That's two color commentators in a row I'd rather have as a head coach.

Nets sure have a great announcing team (again).

In regards to Czar as head coach....isn't Lawrence Frank from the same mold as Fratello. Defensive minded coaches with questionable ability to produce entertaining / productive offensive sets. If it was between Action Jackson & Fratello w/ this group I'd rather see the unknown factor of Mark Jackson over Fratello's plodding style.

Anyhoo, I don't think either would be such a great improvement (if at all) over Frank.

I like mike he's a local guy and a good friend of Marvs. I just hope he dosen't go to far overboard with that telestraighter thing. We've been pretty lucky when it comes to announcers over the last thirty years I've only wanted to choke one or two....

this is great...Hackensack native (cant wait to hear some Jersey references)...Marv and the Czar, who I've always enjoyed...Fratello's knowledge and detailed break down of the game is great coming from a former coach...its going to be interesting to see his perspective on our new and youngers guys and how they mesh...even more so, I'm very curious to see how vocal he'll be when evaluating/commenting on L. Frank and his in game decisions...

w/out a doubt Fratello should be coaching somewhere, hopefully its NJ...

Yeah I can totally see this as a move to get him acclimated with the franchise on a deeper level and if he hits it off with management, they offer him the job the second they lose faith in Frank.

I don't get this interest in Fratello as head coach if one complains about Frank.

Frank comes from the Fratello basketball school-of-thought. Might as well ask for Rick Carlisle because he still has more left in his tank then Fratello who is closer to Lenny Wilkens in coaching-by-the-numbers. Heck didn't Devin Harris find Frank's openness on offense a breath of fresh air compared to Avery ? Well, Fratello is known for excellent defensive schemes but also for taking the air out of the ball on every posession on offense (that sounds familiar to Devin...and not in a good way). I saw Fratello's basketball school of thought w/ the Raptors via Kevin O'Neill ("student" of Carlisle b-ball) and it was boring as heck. Playing basketball I want to win, but watching, entertainment is first...why watch it otherwise...?

If winning regular season games and watching boring basketball is your goal then Fratello's your man.

Not a big Frank supporter but he still has alot of room to improve/grow as a coach while at this point in Fratello's coaching career what you see is what you get..and it ain't pretty.

I like Fratello just where the Nets put him. Good fit there, not at the bench.

There was one game that Fratello did last season with TNT where he had to comment on Swift. If memory serves, Fratello offered only minimal commentary on Swift and often was talking about other things when Swift was making plays, but during a replay segment Fratello finally commented on him.

Swift was part of the Bonzi Wells armband rebellion in the 04/05 playoff series between the Griz and the Suns, where Bonzi Wells was not allowed to enter the arena for game 4 and a handful of players wore a #6 armband in support of Bonzi (armbands and headbands were banned by Fratello for subsequent seasons)

Hubie Brown has made much more classy comments about Swift in games he's commentated.

Hubie Brown said during a game that Stromile Swift was a big part of Brown's success with the Grizzlies because Swift accepted being played out of position at Center and he gave the Grizzlies excellent production of the bench. His comments were in response to Mike Breen labelling Swift 'inconsistent' during a game.

In the Griz' 50 win season, Stromile Swift played a key role when Lorenzen went down with injury in March 04. The Griz set a franchise record for best record in a month that month.
