Trade#1
Cavs give the grizz a 20091rst that the knicks won't give them,Wallace is no randolph but will definately play tough D and grab boards and mentor Gasol and Haddidi low risk contract that expires sooner than randolph's.
It seems like the knicks are playing mind games with the grizz.but nobody really wants randolph.
The cavs turned down a deal that would have sent wallace to n.y. for zach and another involving wally for zach and the biggest need for the cavs is a post pressence.

Re: cavs/grizz trade
I guess if you throw in a couple of 1st's from Cleveland you may have yourself a deal.

Re: cavs/grizz trade
Why Wallace?
Do we really need him? Could he play the PF spot we need to fill? I didnt like when he was playing at PF with Big Z in cleveland. IM not a Darko fan and id rather to put Marc in the line-up as soon as he is ready but... If we are trading Darko-Jaric pack, lets get a true PF that can score and be a threat inside at Offense.
Its great to have wallace blocking shots and intimidating people, but what about when we are in the other basket? no threats inside, So most of our shots have to come from mid and long-range, so, that means low %FG and in long terms= 30W-52L

The point of the trade is only bringing Wallace to Memphis so that he can be moved to NY for Zbo. Could have as easily just been a 3 way trade to begin with.

Re: cavs/grizz trade
But why Wallace to the Grizzs?
I mean, Wallace-Gasol at C are >>>>> than Marc and Darko? I dont think it is a real improvement. I think we can get back something better for Darko-Jaric pack.

Re: cavs/grizz trade
Ahh - my bad - I totally misread the convoluted mess. Yeah, Wallace to the Grizz makes no sense whatsoever. I thought it was a three way deal with Darko/Jaric to Cleveland, Wallace to New York and Randolph to Memphis. Bleh.

Re: cavs/grizz trade
Unfortunately Big Ben is gettin to the downside of his career. His last two season hasn't been the same since his days @ Detroit despite his contributions on the defensive end. Also like bobo stated, we need a PF who can contribute offensively as well and Big Ben doesn't provide that for a team.

Re: cavs/grizz trade
The cavs wouldnt do this deal, they have no need for jaric or darko(or would even have interest in them). Why would we need to give up a first, that would be crazy. I could kind of understand why the grizz are asking for a first from the knicks. Because randolph has a huge contract that runs through the next 4 or 5 seasons, and he is known to be a cancer. Ben isnt the player he use to be but atleast he will be a huge expiring contract next season and is still decent at rebounding/defending........
Why would the grizz have interest in zach is the real question?? Why put a guy like that with these talented young guys, he could be a bad influence and stunt their growth as players.........

Re: cavs/grizz trade
I guess they are thinking with Zach to fill the PF because he can score down there. His D is not really good one to one, but he can rebound everynight, lots of weight with Marc and Zach. If it is not Zach, Wich PF in the league could land in grizzland?
Anyway, i dont know what will be the attitude of our PF this year, Warrick, Arthur and 'Toine.
Warrick really impressed me after Pau trade, He did pretty well. And Toine and Arthur, who knows...
Maybe it is not a bad idea at all to get at C: Darko, Marc and Iranian & PF: Warrick, Toine, arthur.
To sum up, everybody said about how could grizzs get Zach in the house with all the troubles he will bring, but, come on. Wouldnt you change your attitude with a new team, new city, new coach... Maybe the guy is just fustrated. He hasnt been happy in a team in ages, we just gotta give him love and maybe he is bringing a 20/10 with 55% and 1TO. I know he is demanding a lot the ball and this year we gotta feed a lot the players beyond the arc, but, we all know there must be a balance with the balls between out and inside.

Re: cavs/grizz trade
A leopard can't change his spots. Zach Randolph is who he is. But it's unfair to judge him soley on stories and articles since none of us has ever sat down and had a conversation with the guy. His college coach for example, is it Tom Izzo, says he's a great young man. Who knows?
We've heard plenty of stories about spoiled young players who behave like idiots. Look at Josh Howard today saying he doesn't believe in your national anthem because he's black. Is Randolph any worse than Howard?
My concern over Randolph has always been more about how he plays on the court and whether he is worth the $17mil he'll be getting in his final year of his contract rather than what kind of attitude or personality he has. Ron Artest hasn't scared anyone off and he's way farther out in left field than Randolph.
If Randolph had ever shown that he's a defensive force I would embrace him as a solid player that the Grizzlies could have for years. But since he has proved to be someone that tries harder to pad his scoring stats than get his nose dirty on defense I would have reservations about paying that monster contract for a one way player.
To me it's about what you get for your money on the court and nothing to do with Zach Randolph and his supposed attitude. Dennis Rodman helped three teams become championship contenders despite his craziness. I would have taken him in a heartbeat when he was in his prime.
