Greg Olsen

Post#1 » by TNBT » Mon Sep 15, 2008 3:23 pm

I'm looking at getting a Bears jersey, and the site I am looking at only has a limited number of different players. I want to go with a young-ish guy, so I'm considering Tommie Harris, Devin Hester or Greg Olsen. Obviously we all know Harris and Hester are studs, but I haven't heard a lot about Olsen lately. I remember when we drafted him, some people were saying how he was the best TE in the draft and had star potential, and most mock drafts had him going well before our pick came around. So I'm wondering, can you guys who actually get to see the games and get a lot more info than I do maybe give me some sort of idea about Olsen? Is he really the potential star that some have said? What are his strengths and weaknesses? Any info would be appreciated.

Yes, I am aware that he had a pretty bad game. That isn't the ONLY game he has ever played though, so what thoughts do you have about him from what he has shown since we drafted him?

Looks like a bust so far, but it's early to write off a pass catcher as they typically have slower learning curves.

Thus far, he's done almost nothing though.

I don't consider him a bust. Just look at the QBs that have been throwing it to him.

He's shown great speed and pass catching ability. Put him in the Dallas or Indy offense and he'd put up huge numbers.

He had his best 4 game stretch last year when Griese was starting and our passing game picked up.

I went with Hester the week of the Super Bowl and looks like a good choice so far. Luckily he isn't in my pile of worthless sports jerseys (Ben Wallace, Nomar Garciaparra, and Kosuke Fukudome)

Eh, I would get Harris. I actually don't see his jersey around a lot even though we all know he's HUGE on our team.

I would go Harris for a jersey as well.

When I went to the superbowl I went with a Berrian jersey which doesn't hold a lot of value these days.

Cliff Levingston has an authentic Harris jersey.

Some other considerations would be Vasher and Tillman. They've got long-term deals and are good players who should be around for a while. Same goes for Briggs and Forte.

I'm thinking I'll probably get a Harris jersey, but that raises another question. On the Bears website, there is a pic of a Harris jersey and on the back it says "T. Harris". Now I assume that the "T." would have been there when we we had Chris Harris on the team. However, the jersey that I am looking at buying from this other site just has "Harris" on the back, without the "T." in front of it. So my question is this season, now that Tommie is the only Harris on the team, does his jersey now say "T. Harris" or just "Harris"?

Previous game not withstanding, I like Captain America plenty. Good speed, gets separation, and can do a little bit after the catch. He has the misfortune of being on the Bears, though, who traditionally don't feature the TE and prefer running the ball and clock control. Throw in the fact he vies with Dez Clark - a superior blocker - for playing time and I think you can see why his numbers don't stand out. Heck, we could have Jerry Rice on this team and we wouldn't know it, would we ? How could we ?!?
Turn down for what?
