Rating the QB's

Post#1 » by TNBT » Mon Sep 15, 2008 3:31 pm

I live in Australia so I don't get to see any games or get much coverage of the NFL here, so I have had to learn the game for myself by researching it online. Now I don't really know much about teams other than the Bears, so I was wondering if you guys would be able to give me some sort of ranking of the QB's in the league? You can only list the starters if you want, but feel free to include backups if you want to go more in-depth.

Also, I am wondering what sort of list you guys would come up with if I asked for you to give me a top 10 list of the all-time best QB's in history. If you guys could give me your opinions on this it would be much appreciated.

It's really hard to rank the best starting QBs in the league now because there are some rookie QBs who have only played 2 games. I really don't follow the NFL that much outisde of the Bears, but I'll give a ranking of the top ten QBs.

1. Peyton Manning
2. Tom Brady
3. Tony Romo
4. Donovan McNabb
5. Drew Brees
6. Carson Palmer
7. Brett Favre
8. Eli Manning
9. Derek Anderson
10. Ben Roethlisberger

Best of all time(In no particular order)

1. Otto Grahm
2. Brett Favre
3. John Elway
4. Dan Marino
5. Joe Montana

I don't think that I could argue that any one of these guys are better than the other 4.

After watching Cutler play at the end of last year and his first two games this year I would add him onto that top 10 list

Thanks for the replies. Your list had most of the guys who came to mind when I think of great QB's but it was interesting to see what order people ranked them in.

Out of curiousity, where would you rank a guy like Joe Namath on the all-time list?

I think that Namath is a very overrated QB. He had 173 career touchdowns and 220 career interceptions. People mainly remember him because he talked trash saying that his team was going to win the superbowl when they were the underdogs, and then they won. His career QB rating was 65.5.

He's kinda like Eli Manning. People overrate Eli because he upset the Patriots in the Superbowl.

Maybe the last couple years but not now. He was a young #1 overall pick and it took some time for him to find his way just like it did for Peyton. Eli can ball.
