Go to the 1:43 mark, when will he just shut the hell up and do somethin? You would think going to Wake Forest would give him some common sense

This one is much worse than the pot ordeal. He better hope it doesn't get too much publicity or he'll be in some real trouble.

Well, I saw it here on realgm.com first. But now, its a national story. I've now seen it on SI.com and other sports websites.

This could be so huge. This could cause all kinds of PR problems for the Mavs. This could lead to Mavs having to suspend Howard (if the public makes a big enough stink about it).

I'm a huge Mavs fan and have given him the benefit of the doubt most of the time, but Im done with JHo. I want him off this team.

What an idiot. He just needs to shut up. Everyone was cool and calm and for the most part let the pot thing go and then he goes and does something dumb like this.

At least Cuban understands whats going on and is having him go through communication classes. Seems like Josh Howard doesn't like the star spangled banner because he's black... I guess he should look up who's paying him. Freakin loser.

The Howard for Artest trade proposals that I scuffed at are starting to look like a deal we should have done.

Oh, man, this is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad news.

Moron. Idiot. Imbecile. None of these words capture the full measure of his stupidity. Calling the national anthem "sh**" makes Ron Artest look GOOD right about now.

I've defended J-HO for a long time, and he really has been a model of work ethic and philanthropy in his time in the NBA. But this is it. The Mavericks have to sell him off, hopefully before training camp.

Oh, and Josh Howard MUST be a sleeper cell operative for the McCain party or something! Take Obama's name out of your mouth, you fool!

I'm fine with it, I understand what he means. Anyone even remotely knowledgeable of US policy should get it. If you don't, go pick up a copy People's History of American Empire. It comes in comic book format so you can read it fast and also maintain your street cred while pretending you're not actually learning.

I agree that he didnt do anything illegal, but if the fans protest enough about this punk completely disrespecting the US, they will be forced to remove him from the team.

Look at what the Rangers had to do with kenny rodgers a couple of years ago. He just pushed down a reporter. JHo did something a million times worse.

There won't be any kind of suspension on this one. Cuban says he already handled it. But what it will mean is the boo-birds will be out in full force--especially during the early part of the season. His trade value tanks and he is useless for any kind of PR work now. And how likely is it he gets booed every time he touches the ball the first time (at least) he plays in each city. Its kind of funny though that the country guarantees him the right to free speech--which he uses to disrespect the country that gave it to him. Whatever tenets of the government he disagrees with, this isn't the right way to go about it. Yes, he has free speech rights--but there is always consequences attached to how those rights get exercised.

What ever happen to freedom of speech.

He is a grown @$$ man in his own time he can say whatever he feels like it. You fans only pay his salary during the season, you do not own this man 24/7 all day everyday.

I'm sorry but if you grew up rough in hard neighborhoods I've guarenteed you would like to scream out F*** America yourself. Maybe if he said F*** Bush may have been a little better but who hasn't said that.

You don't want Howard trade him and move on I don't believe he will find it hard to get new offers regardless of this. May be for the best as your front office fired his mentor and friend. Suspect Howard to do something to get out during the season no Avery equals a P.O'ed Howard.

Plus how can you be mad at a guy who said something on tape that he didn't know was going to be out on this level (even though common since of the haterade media should have kicked in). That is stupid to get mad at in itself, plus I fail to believe everyone here has said the most politically correct thing all the time.

This is not a big deal at all if Don Imus can be forgiven for racist remarks on the air and given a job a week later J-Howard is still in good shape.

Finally this was in July it's September now. If the NBA media has nothing better to do than rip on Howard the whole season that is truly a shame.
