He still had to be in position to make the play. Doughty might have been a step or two away because he's less athletic or he might have been totally out of position because he couldn't hear the call. Maybe the defense was able to do what it did because they called a defense that wouldn't be possible with Doughty in the game instead of Horton. Maybe Horton is cosmically drawn to loose balls on a subconscious level. Or maybe he's just lucky. Who knows? All I know is the guy made plays and guys who make plays need to be on the field.

Pretty much. The fumble he recovered was forced by Rocky McIntosh and laying on the ground for like 10 seconds. Both interceptions were tipped up in the air by others.

He put himself in the position to make the plays. Thats more than I can say for Doughty his entire career.

Can't argue with that. I don't think much of Doughty either although he does seem t have a good work ethic. But I'm not sure if Horton is a NFL starter; I hope he is.

Although I'm not ready yet to pronounce the guy a sure hall of famer just yet (or, for that matter, even a bonafide NFL starter), the data points are starting to line up.

Judging by this game and the preseason (remember the recovered onside kick against the Colts?), the guy has shown an uncanny ability to stay focused and put himself around the football. Plus, he does hang onto the ball when it comes his way (hear that Carlos Rodgers? Fred Smoot?)

For my money, it's worth giving him another look as the starter.

Blache usually plays three safeties on the same field at times anyway. Doughty should be the starter, he's solid. He doesn't make mistakes, he tackles well, plus he's super smart and he plays his guts out.

LOL you sound like Gibbs on Brunell.

Doughty doesn't tackle well. He got destroyed in the Giants game several times. He sucks in coverage too. He just does not make plays. Horton has proven more in one game than Doughty in a handful of games.

Week 3 of The World's Most Prestigious Power Poll:

It’s only week 3 of the NFL season and already your head is spinning with what has happened. Also, your fantasy team is now playing Joe Porter at QB. Face it, you need help. Fortunately for you, The World’s Most Prestigious Power Poll is here for you. Bask in its nutritious wisdom…

01. Dallas Cowboys [2-0]: The only thing that can stop this offense right now is Tony Romo’s tiny, tiny brain. [NC]

02. Pittsburgh Steelers [2-0]: Good defense and a tough running game — it’s the Steelers way and it works. [NC]

03. New England Patriots [2-0]: Will respond to Miami’s hilarious trash-talking by humiliating the Dolphins this weekend. [NC]

04. New York Giants [2-0]: Enjoying the cakewalk part of their schedule right now [Bengals this Sunday] and might not lose until October 26 at Pittsburgh — the next time they’ll face a good opponent. [NC]

05. Philadelphia Eagles [1-1]: Proved they can go toe to toe with the Cowboys in Dallas. WR Desean Jackson is good. If he ever grows a brain, he’ll be great. Beating the Steelers in Philly this weekend would be a statement win. [NC]

Read it all.
Satan is happy with your progress.

I still don't know what to make of this team. They looked good against the Saints, but that wasn't exactly a great D they played against the Skins still made plenty of their patented mistakes. Thing is, it's not so much the Skins, but the rest of the division. Giants, Eagles, and 'Boys all look really really good. The Skins just aren't better than any of them. We'll just have to wait for that McNabb injury, I guess.

With a new coach and so many unknowns, we'll just have to get better and learn along the way. The W's are bonus. Just keep winning and learn.

What a way to start the game. Campbell 6 of 6. Loved his decision to run.

inspired play calling when the score is tied, conservative play calling when with a lead. the plays at the beginning of the second half were very fun to watch and i'm very impressed at the clean execution considering they were plays that are maybe called a dozen times throughout a season.

not as impressed: cheap shot on that blown coverage TD callback. I'm sure gregg easterbrook will have that as a sour play in his column this week.

Didn't see the third quarter, but I really liked our game in the first and fourth quarters. Was kinda surprised by that fieldgoal attempt decision down the stretch, but all is well that ends well I guess.

Still some questionable coaching decisions (taking the air out of the ball in the second quarter, the late 50+ FG try) but it's nice to get a win. It's also nice to have some calls go our way for a change. Campbell looks really comfortable and Devin Thomas finally looks ready to contribute. I feel good about going into Dallas next week.

Random notes:

- Heyer is dumb as bricks for that penalty.
- Doughty is slow as molasses (although he did force a fumble today).
- Smoot still maddens me with the amount of cushion he gives.
- The D-line is getting decent pressure.
- Where is Fletcher? I'm not hearing his name called much.

How was that the fault of the coaching staff? I think the Cardinals did a good job with getting pressure on Campbell in the 2nd quarter. Zorn adjusted and the Redskins were able to pull out the win.

The play calling in the last two games gives me boners. Haven't seen such an efficient offense since the Norv days (how sad is that?)

I thought that they got a little conservative before the half with some running plays and that made it easier for Arizona to steal the momentum. You're correct that Zorn adjusted at the half and that was great. I just thought they may have wanted to go into the locker room on a high note, especially since the Cards were getting the ball first in the second half and had yet to go deep. Just my opinion.

I have to agree that the last drive the Redskins had before halftime had some questionable calls like that inside handoff to Clinton Portis. I thought you were referring to the entire 2nd quarter.

Still, Zorn commitment to run allowed for the development of play action that were important to the TD to Yoder in the 3rd quarter, and the Redskins final first down that ended the game.

any footage of Zorn chewing out Brooks? That sounds like it would be fun to watch.
