McGowan out for the year. It hurts to lose depth and our first string nickelback, but at least it's not one of our irreplaceable players.

Ankle injury.
Manning was supposed to be the #1 nickel corner, but hasn't done too well in his transition from safety.

**** man, I liked Chris Harris AND Mcgowan.

I guess luckily for us Kevin Payne is a beast. He had like 11 tackles last game.

His unoffical total was 13.

McGowan has been injured a lot since he came into the league... he played just one healthy season, last year. Other then that he appeared in 8, 1, and 2 games.

To make room for Kevin Payne who's been playing well.

If there's any position we can afford an injury to, it's the defensive backfield (except Brown). Cliff Levingston wouldn't be too worried about having D. Manning or McBride take over the position.

So am I. Trading him never seemed to make any sense to me. Why did we move him when we had Brown (who is almost always injured), Manning (who was still young and unproven) and Payne (also young and unproven) to cover the safety positions?

Funny, while I love what Chris Harris has done for the Panthers, I always thought he stunk it up for the Bears and would've bought him cab fare to the airport to get him out of here. It's either a case of our scheme not fitting his strengths or him getting motivated after getting moved.

Wait... you're telling me that Danieal Manning has been moved to CB? Then why have I not heard anything about it? And why is he still listed as a Free Safety on the Bears website and depth chart?

It's nickel[/b]back[/b], not nickel corner back. Cliff Levingston would classify as Danieal Manning as a DB, not necessarily a CB or a safety, not that's a good thing.

The NFL added insult to injury for Brandon McGowan as the veteran safety will have to cough up $5,000 for playing in what could be his final game as a Bear.

The league fined him for unnecessary roughness, striking an opponent late, for his actions after Brandon Lloyd had returned Darrell McClover's blocked punt nine yards for a touchdown in the first quarter last Sunday at Carolina. He drew a 15-yard penalty on the play.

McGowan was officially placed on injured reserve today and if he has not already had surgery on his left ankle to repair ligament damage, he will soon. McGowan was a restricted free agent and returned to the Bears for $1.417 million. Considering this is his third serious injury--he previously had a torn ACL and a ruptured Achilles tendon--it is somewhat unlikely the team will look to bring him back. However, the Bears have stuck with Mike Brown, whose injury history is just as detailed.

McGowan can appeal the fine.

D. Manning is going to replace McGowan in that nickel role. Steltz is hurt and probably won't play this weekend and Joey LaRoque got called up from the practice squad.
