That's great, I guess.

Sorry, I'm just not buying any of it until he puts in 20 min. a game for 50 games in a row with good numbers.

I mean, it's nice he's at 265. I'm glad he was sweating during the draft. Might have knocked off another pound or two.

I'm not going to get my hopes up about May but if he could actually play 55+ games and contribute my feelings of what this team can do this year would improve a lot.

I haven't seen anything I can disagree with you guys on. My problem with Sean is going to be "What happens to the knee in Game 56, or 65, or 72? Will it hold up? I sure hope so, but we need more than the p.f.b.c. behind May.

I know that several on the board have expressed the wish that May be the first frontcourt reserve into the game for instant offense. I would be much more comfortable about his knee if he were in that role instead of pushing it to play starter minutes.

Because, if he goes down again, it'll be for the count this time.

Claw on.
In loving memory of Barbara Hickman Taylor 07/20/1955-11/27/2010. Rest in Peace Sweet Lady!

His best potential is as our reserve PF, maybe some spot time at the 5 if foul trouble intrudes. Larry Brown has lost it if he's counting on May to be our starter with a starter's minutes.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I'd be happy if he makes it through the year 82 or 78 games and puts up good numbers off the bench than him to play up to Expectations. In my eyes he has NO expectations. He's coming back.

:nonono:  :banghead:  Mays Potential for us this season is as a "backup only"..If Larry
Starts him he won't be around to play at all after 25 games let alone 50 games. Something has got to be up in the background on trading for a power forward or picking up somebody after all the teams finish their traing camp cuts. Whats up with our other 2008 first round pick Ajincia? Are they sending him to NBA dev Leag or europe or Out to graze for another 30-40 lbs of muscle? I know the workout was great ,but theree is noway way he can play at 4 this year or any year at his current weight.

I think larry is content to just leat the season start , showcase a couple of players Morrison?wallace?
Carroll? Felton? then try a trade for a veteran pf...

Is Sean May available? Would the Bobcats be willing to trade him for a less-talented player without an injury history like his? For example

SAS in - Sean May
CHA in - Matt Bonner, 2009 Second Round Pick

I'd do it for someone like Frye, but not like the Red Rocket!!

How 'bout

Cookie for Chuck Hayes
Cookie for Mikki Moore
Cookie for Zaza Pachulia
Cookie for Jeff Foster
Cookie for Anderson Varejao

(none of it checked in the trade-checker of course)

Off the top of my head: no, yes, no, yes, yes

With Moore we should have two training groups one with him and the other one with Crash.

From the above, the answer is no, you're not willing to trade down in talent for more demonstrated durability... Seriously, there's very little evidence that Sean Mays is a better player, even discounting injuries than Channing Frye, Foster, or Varejao... The only surprise yes on e4nF6's list is Mikki Moore (in my mind), as without Jason Kidd feeding him he's been pretty useless...Everybody else you have said yes too has demonstrated both starter level talent and the ability to complete seasons (plural seasons, yeah...).

Valueing Sean May is an interesting problem; right now he looks kind of a like a 2nd coming of Laphonso Ellis - Good/Decent player, but made of glass... You would probably be able to work a Mikki Moore deal with the Kings, but every other deal you'd accept so far, the other team wouldn't.

I could see SA giving up 2 2nds and Bonner, but they really have no other big on their roster that they can trade for a guy who might only give them 20 odd games...

I agree in principle....I think cookie is easily more "talented" than all of those guys. But those teams aren't going to give up solid contributors for a bunch of "talent" sitting at the end of the bench in a suit...

Moore and Varejao are realistic because those teams might be selling for pennies on the dollar just to get rid of them.

Probably we'll just hold on to him and keep our fingers crossed. It is a contract year after all...
