Re: OT:Stephon Marbury to be waived!
If they want, there are a couple of members of the Talented New York City Point Guards That Nobody Seems To Want Club available in Stephon Marbury and Jamaal Tinsley. Not long after Donnie Walsh claimed Steph would be given a “clean slate” — implying that he’d have a chance to keep his job from Chris Duhon’s clutches — reports out of NY are now saying Steph might be waived before the season starts. The Pacers, meanwhile, made it very clear they don’t want Tinsley back (they’ve even stopped selling #11 jerseys at the team store), but all they accomplished by telling the world they’d only trade Tinsley and wouldn’t waive him was ensure that they’ll get low-balled in every offer. If you had a choice between Marbury or Tinsley at a more reasonable, market-value price, who would you rather have on your team? … Aside from the Wizards, the Heat and Warriors could be interested in taking on a talented/trouble PG. The Warriors might be content, though. Marcus Williams has reportedly been looking good in offseason workouts, showing up in shape and everything …

Interesting but at the end of the day I'm really not sure I'd be willing to add Stephon to the mix. Unlike Cassell, Stephon would likely encroach on Rondo's turf in a big way. Realistically, stunting Rondo's development is about the worst thing the organization could do at this point.

I would rather have Cassell. Or even Scal play PG than this lunatic...

I like the idea of Marbury as a 6th man, but you need to allot around 30 MPG for him or else I can't see him too happy. With that being said he'd probably infer on House and T. Allen's minutes more than anyone else. Rondo can get his 30 in there and Starbury would back he and Ray Allen up...making it a 3 guard rotation.

Imagine him and Cassell providing more scoring threat off the bench.

I think I'm all set with Starbury. While he does have talent, I don't think there is a whole lot upstairs.

Marbury wants to redeem himself, I would take him over Sam I am Old in a heart beat. If he doesnt work out, waive him, we need more scoring off the bench he could provide it backing up rondo and Ray, he is big enough to guard smaller 2's

Re: OT:Stephon Marbury to be waived!
It's not really that OT. Remember when he said that Boston is the one spot on his radar?
Or what about Pierce's comment on Letterman:
"I'd try to trade him or buy him out at this point," added Pierce, who still believes Marbury can be a starting point guard in the NBA. "I just think he needs a fresh start somewhere else. Marbury needs to be on a veteran team where he fits into what they're trying to do a little bit more."

I don't think Starbury even knows he needs to redeem himself. That would require more than a nodding relationship with reality on his part. If by some awful chance he ends up here I'll root for him to turn his act around, but I just can't help but hope this career long narcissistic loser ends up some where else, perhaps in purple and gold. With Kobe and Steph's egos in the same arena the Laker's wouldn't be able to fit fans in, thereby going broke and fading away like a bad dream.

Europe.....Hes a player who has opening wanted to play overseas and will get paid a good sum of money vs getting the vet min. Money is more important than winning a championship to some people....

Re: OT:Stephon Marbury to be waived!
I liked the idea of this in a vacuum but faced with the reality of it I think I would pass. The other reality is that there are other places that would still love to have him start at the basement price tag. I can imagine that Pat Riley will welcome Steph with open arms.
I have no interest in Tinsley, he has all the risk without the uber talent of Marbury.

He will probably sign with Miami or play overseas.

I'd want him on my team since it'd mean Roswell wouldn't be on the team. And I think at this point Starberry realizes he doesn't deserve to get starter minutes on a championship team, and if he'd be willing, like I think someone quoted him as saying, to do whatever it takes to regain his reputation and to win a championship, then I would sign him, for a one year smallish contract, if we could do that. I'm one for the whole Patriots' idea of signing talented players with bad reputations and putting them in an excellent situation with players who won't take their antics.

I'd take Marbury over Sam at this point. PGA could pull him aside if he started to act up. Let him know his past antics might have flyed in NY but not on this team. Have Rondo and Ray play 34 minutes a game that would leave 28 minutes for Stephon. Shop House or Allen with Scal and Big Baby for another center.

Starbury is insane. He has no spot on this team at all. How many (projects) do you want on this team. You already have Miles,Pruitt,Walker,Giddens and who am I forgetting?
No thanks. All set with that next nutcase

Too late. Steph already has a new deal:

p.s. Anyone who would want Marbury on this team is out of their mind. What does he have to do be be considered poison at this point? Kill 50 people? Break Kevin Garnett's legs? Even back when he used to put up impressive stats he was always a cancer in the locker room and a loser on the court. Now he can no longer play, and he's about 5000X crazier than he was before.

There are PLENTY more links where that came from. The only reason to sign Stef would be if the team needed a new kind bud hookup now that Olowokandi is off the team. I vote no. There is a chance that if Tony Allen lays off the grass he might regrow some brain cells and be able to last more than five possessions in a row without doing something stupid.

Re: OT:Stephon Marbury to be waived!
Miami seems like the best fit for him. They were looking at starting Marcus Banks. Marbury is a good player despite his ball-dominating. There are very few in history to put up the stats that he has from the pg position. I don't consider him an all-star, but he's definitely still a better player than someone like Gabe Pruitt or Cassell. He's stupid and easily influenced, yes, but that means his brain can be shaped to a team's will, if he has the right kind of coach. Look at what Isaiah had him singing about last summer for a perfect example. Marbury believed that Randolph was going to help turn the team around.
