What happened to Mark Bradley?

Post#1 » by TNBT » Fri Sep 19, 2008 3:04 pm

I'm checking out our depth chart on the Bears website, and I can understand why our first 4 got their jobs. The staff apparently think Davis is due for a breakout season; Lloyd has obviously played well enough to start; Hester is just so dangerous that we have to play him; and Booker has the experience factor. However, I was wondering about our 5th and 6th guys, those being Bennett and Bradley. I understand that Bennett is a rookie, so I'm not too concerned with him being at the bottom of the depth chart. What does concern me however is what's going on with Mark Bradley? He looked so promising as a rookie. I know he has had some injury problems, but when healthy he has size, speed and good hands. So why is he at the bottom of the depth chart? Is he still injured? If he's healthy, then it makes no sense to me why we're not playing him.

Bradley was lucky to make the team over Rideau. He's basically around to provide depth and play special teams. Booker's ahead of Bradley on the depth chart and if he's not seeing minutes, Bradley won't either. Perhaps with Hester's injury we'll see more of both.

Ever since Bradley tore his ACL, he's been AWOL. Cliff Levingston has given up on him.

Yeah - he lost that burst after the injury. His rookie year, I would marvel at how he was the first receiver we had in a while that had the skill to do something after the catch. He could make the other guy miss and get some more yards out of a routine pass. You didn't see that post-ACL.

he still has the step on DBs, but obviously not as quick. Last I really heard of him was when Grossman was starting again last year and he made sure that Turner/Lovie played Bradley. He did well/more PT than the 14 games before thanks to Rex. But Rex got hurt and he saw same PT as before.

Well, he did play well enough in the preseason to earn a spot. Remember Hanie to Bradley 6 straight times? Would of been 7 for a TD if there wasn't holding.
