yup.

More importantly he played good man defense vs Dirk.

Can't wait for the coaching staff & Nets players to help this kid's game.

the Nets have a direction, a working plan, and a goal to be competitive while developing youth and ultimately to be a "player" financially, as an organization, come 2010...that has nothing to do with hope...

But to address your points, Bostjan Nachbar wasn't that big of a loss I liked watching him play but he was so damn erratic that you never knew if you could count on him. I'm one of the few that thinks Krstic will eventually return to form but I actually like the situation that the Nets are in now, if he doesn't get healthy then good riddance if he shows promise once again then the Nets still own his rights and he'll be a restricted free agent whenever he decides to return to the NBA.

As for the Jefferson trade... The way I see it is:

1. Jefferson had to be traded (his ego was starting to swell)
2. The Nets didn't trade Jefferson for Yi. They traded Jefferson to shed his contract for a soon to be expiring one, and a prospect in the process.

Trading Jefferson had more with the Nets wanting to get out of his contract than acquiring Yi Jianlian.

In regards to the Nets draft choices... The only other alternative to Brook Lopez that the Nets should have contemplated was Jerryd Bayless, and while I'll admit I'm more of a Bayless than Lopez fan, there are plenty of talented guards in every draft so the Nets will get a shot at some of them in the next few drafts when they're bound to have a lottery pick. (No comment on Ryan Anderson, but you also forgot to mention that the Nets drafted CDR).

The Nets are in a no lose situation, since next year they will probably have a choice of Blake Griffin, Chase Budinger or James Harden. I would love any of these 3 players on my team. The main thing is to get the Nets ready for Brooklyn. :D :)

Agreed!

Ping Pong Anyone. I would take Rubio too. IMO if harris shows us he can score better then play PG, I say Rubio is an option.

Sorry, but I don't think I'm wrong at all. You could have gotten better value for RJ while still getting contracts that expire in 2010, you could have drafted better upside, you could have kept Kristic or Boki quite cheaply, you can rant the whole "addition by subtraction" line all you like, but if I was a nets fan, i'd be annoyed with my F.O.

Thank god you're not. You'd be the dumbest Nets fan on the board.

I think that the Nets can win 30-something games in the weak East, where a lot of teams are teetering between playoff contention and the lottery.

I think that you will be disappointed in Yi. He has a lot of physical talent, but not much basketball knowledge. Plus, I think that he is worn out from playing year round for several seasons. Yi needs some time off.

I like Lawrence Frank as a coach, but maybe not for a young team. He is better with veterans. Kids might tune him out - the disease of the NBA.

I won't be disappointed in Yi unless he puts up horrendous #'s for the simple fact I am not expecting much from him right away, and I don't even know how much I ever expect.

This season I am expecting something like 28 MPG, 11-15 PPG, 5-7 RPG, 2 APG, 1 BPG with a bad FG% for a big man.
Not much too expect.

And personally, I think L Frank sucks in general, but funny enough he might be the perfect coach for this team the next season or 2.

Nets have invited Julius Hodge to camp. Since I think Hodge > Marcus, that's a good invite for the Nets.

Well he has no place on the team if we can't clear a roster spot. I'm praying within the next 2 weeks we can clear roster 2-3 spots so we can get him on the team. He'll look great in a suit.

I hate Julius Hodge. I think he's getting hype for no reason at all... Give me Dermarr Johnson anyday of the week.

I know he's in the paper non-stop nowadays. I live in NC, seen in person a lot of what this kid can do. He's was straight up nasty in college. Single handedly carried a massively overrated NC State team deep in the NCAA tourney that year (I think they lost in the sweet 16 or elite 8. regadless, they wouldn't even have been an NIT team if he wasn't on their team). He also led the team in points, rebounds and assists that year if I'm not mistaken.

If all the articles and what Kiki has been saying about him is true (how good shape he's been in, how hard he's worked) then he could be a great role player on a lot of teams. I honestly think he'd be perfect for the Spurs to back up old man Bowen. He'd be in that rotation mad quick.

2005-06
draft day: the knicks trade Kurt Thomas for Quentin Richardson (really bad) and Nate Robinson.
June 30, 2005 the Knicks exercised the contract option on Michael Sweetney.
July 28, 2005 the Knicks named Larry Brown head coach.
August 2, 2005 the Knicks signed Jerome James.
October 4, 2005 They traded some filler and many draft picks for Eddy Curry and Antonio Davis.
Of course on October 6, 2005 they signed Matt Barnes who they used as a started in all but 1 game he played. But then again they waived him on December 3rd, so they could sign Qyntel Woods on December 6th.

Say what you want about the Nets this offseason, but I'll argue there have been much worse. The Nets are clearly rebuilding. A couple small contract veterans added on, 3 solid rookies, and the Jefferson for Yi trade is actually pretty good.

Maybe hype wasn't the right word to use but he's definitely getting a ton of manlove from Kiki despite having done nothing significant while in Denver.

When you get shot and almost die in your rookie season, I'll say that may set you back a while. He flat out destroyed Europe, Australia and the D-League when he played in those leagues. And he claims he wasn't even in the best shape there. Trust me, I agree with you 100% he's getting way too much attention in the press in terms of trying to make a team who has 15 guaranteed contracts, but he is solid. He'll never be a star in this league but is can be a very productive role player. I'm telling you, if he made a team like the Spurs, he's be nuts. I'd love to see him in a Nets uni but unless we buy out Ager in the next 2 weeks I can't see it happening unfortunately. I personally don't think we'll take guaranteed players on our roster to Europe with us if we plan on cutting them before the season starts.

I think they are ok....
I mean it looks stupid sometimes but it will play out ...

I think it is better like this instead of keeping JR with VC.....
First round exit for sure..

Decent off season. They added some young talent and sadly got rid of RJ. But instead of paying a lot whilst being stuck in mediocrity, they ditched the big contract.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
