Grizz wanted Yue?

Post#1 » by Yeviwolf » Sun Sep 21, 2008 3:54 am

"Memphis also wanted Sun in the trade, but we wanted to keep at least one of those two guys so Memphis wanted Marc [Gasol] and we are happy that we were able to keep Sun Yue, because we liked him when we drafted him," Kupchak said.

Interesting, I wonder if the Lakers would rather have kept Gasol and moved Sun? Any chance they could have gotten to keep both Gasols, wondering what thoughts are on who would be a better choice to keep.

wolves fan here...glad to sees someone with "wolf" in their username ^-^

well i suspect the situation was like this, Memphis wants the rights to both Gasol and Sun (and others of course) if possible, but if the lakers only willing to give one, they have to let Memphis choose which one, and obviously Sun is the second choice behind Gasol in this case. I'm sure the Lakers would've kept Gasol in priority, at least the Gasol brothers playing together might sell the tickets even better if not already very good =)

I couldn't help but notice that our resident Super Saiyan has a funny resemblance (at least in RGM's picture) to another well known Asian....

Lakers could have used that one extra big in Marc, but to get Pau we had to give up something more than the useless KB. Sun being 6'9 or so. Might be interesting to see if he will do more than a backup 7 footer. If I were looking to see who gets more minutes early, I think it would be Sun just due to he could play the 1-2-3 positions if needed.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

First Mitch took Butler instead of insisting on Wade, before Pat Riley pulled Wade off the table at the 11th hour, now we could have kept Gasol and gave them skinny cow? Nooooooooooooo!

The two brothers shredded Bosh and D12 in the final, if it wasn't for the guards, specifically KB24, Spain would have been the Olympic Champion.

No way the Grizz would have rather had Yue unless it was strictly about chinese money. Marc was a stud, and Yue an unknown quantity.

I'm glad they agreed to pick one as opposed to insisting on both. No trade, no 2008 finals.

+1; getting Sun would be like additional icing on the cake; getting 2 2nd rounders (marc and sun), Javaris, and 2 first rounders and clearing cap w/ Kwame off the books.... it wasn't a Sun Yue or Marc Gasol....

which is really interesting they wanted Sun. why? they're deep at sun's positions.... trade bait? I guess we'll never know...
