Sun out indefinitely with mononucleosis

Post#1 » by dockingsched » Thu Sep 25, 2008 8:01 pm

Lakers guard Sun Yue, who arrived in Los Angeles from China on Sunday, was taken to the emergency room of a local hospital last night after becoming ill. He has tested positive for mononucleosis, it was announced today by the team.

He is not expected to be ready to practice by Tuesday when the Lakers open training camp and will be out indefinitely. His condition will be monitored on a regular basis.

J-far I hope you're being sarcastic LOL! Ronny had a heart problem.. Mononucleosis happens to be just a ill virus it goes away in 2-3 weeks people usually get it from kissing I'm guessing he kissed a lot of chinese girls in LA on Wednesday night when we went out after the press-conference.

Trust me I suck at it as well. I never had Mononucleosis but I read about it.. even if he misses training-camp he can still be sent to the NBDL to develop there then the Lakers can bring him over after the all-star break but I'm guessing he should be fine by November depending if he gets enough treatment.

On the contrary.

If Sun was looking for some brain, he should of found a more suitable partner.

Mono is bad for an athlete. Not in terms of life threatening, but in physicality.I had a buddy come down with mono and he lost a lot of weight when he was trying to fight off the bug. Mono sucks because it absolutely kills your apetite and all you want to do is lie down all day. I remember my buddy turned green and was weak the whole time and lost 15-20 pounds in a few weeks while he was on it. Sun is already skinny to begin with and it would be horrible if he got even skinner because of this. Tough break for the kid, but it could be worse I guess. He'll just have to work that much harder to come back.

Maybe if he wasn't such a skinny rail of nothing, he'd have a stronger immune system. The LAL could have had the brothers Gasol, why did we need Sun over Marc? He's not a great shooter, is left hand dominant, is skinny as a rail, doesn't play a lick of D. He's a really good passer and nice slasher, but how many ymca games are we going to have a year? He looks like he'll break with a hard foul from PJ Brown. If it had anything to do with ticket sales, I'm gonna have to kick somebody's ass.

Yeah from what I understand of the deal it was Memphis who got to choose between Sun and Marc. The lakers had to choose to include either Javaris or Farmar, and Memphis chose between Sun or Marc Gasol. Mitch said after talking with the staff, and Jordan having a whole year of experience under his belt they went ahead and gave him the nod over Javaris. And Memphis picked Marc over Sun. These aren't deal breaking players, in order to get Pau I would of gave them all four players gift wrapped if they asked for it.
