My Jazz Rotation
This is designed to a general template for all regular season games-foul trouble and injuries could change things.
Starters
Deron
Brewer
AK
Boozer
Okur
6 Minutes into the First quarter
Deron out Price in
Okur/Boozer out (depends on Foul trouble) Millsap in
AK begins play as point forward on half the plays, moving Price off the ball.
2nd quarter
Deron in, Price out
Brewer out/Korver in
AK out/Harpring in
Millsap stays in
Okur/Boozer swap
5 minute mark
Harpring out/CJ in
7 minute mark
Milsap out Boozer/Okur in
Halftime
go back to starters
6 minute mark
Boozer/Okur out, Millsap in
8 minute mark
Deron out, Price in
AK to point forward
4th Quarter
Price out, Deron in
Brewer out/Korver in
AK out/Harpring in
Millsap stays in
Boozer/Okur swap
5 minute mark
Harpring out/ AK in
7 minute mark
Millsap out, Boozer/Okur in
Our Crunch time lineup is
Deron
Korver
AK
Boozer
Memo
1. Deron (38 min)
2. Boozer (36 min)
3. Memo (34 min)
4. AK (31 min)
5. Millsap (26 min)
6. Brewer (24 min)
7. Korver (24 min)
8. Price (10 min)
9. Harpring (10 min)
10. CJ (7 min)
I think getting AK some time as 'Point Forward' will pay off for us all season long. It also hides Price's weakness at running the offense. I think limiting Harpring's time to 10 minutes a game will maximize his effectiveness. He can come and get under our opponents skin and then get out before they take too much advantage of his defense.
Our crunch time lineup has 3 clutch shooters from deep, good rebounding and AK as a shutdown defender.
I would expect Millsap/Boozer/Okur to get into foul trouble fairly frequently. When that happens I would like us to go small and slide Harpring or AK down the 4 and get CJ/Brewer more playing time.
Boozer will be expected to play more center than last season. He just needs to focus on position defense and rebounding. If they other team scores a little we just have to exploit our matchups at the other end.

Re: My Jazz Rotation
I really like the idea of AK playing the point foward role when Deron is on the bench. For one I think AK's a very under rated passer, but more important is that it will get him more involved in the game and hopefully that would motivate his but into trying harder in other area's, I don't blame him for his scoring comeing down, and I don't think it's that big a deal, but if he could provide the defence and rebounding we got from him a few years ago, the Jazz could be one heck of a team, and maybe just maybe him playing the point foward while Deron is out, would get him back into the game, and besides I think Price is a far more natural scorer than distributor. Just my 2 cents

Price? please Brevan Knight has that job..IMO.
Deron - Knight - Price
Brewer - Korver - Almond
AK - CJ - Harps
Boozer - Milsap
Okur - Collins - Fess/Kosta
Minutes are up to Sloans crazy ass so no one knows how theyll be distributed.... but I really think CJ needs to get more minutes because Harps is on his last leg , i really think this is his last season.

Re: My Jazz Rotation
Knight is going to make a big difference on this team.
When was the last time the Jazz had a pass first PG coming off the bench who could actually pass the ball?
Knight is a perfect fit for the Jazz, I can't wait to see him in uniform. Then having Price's athleticism to counter Knight, that is a very good line up.

Re: My Jazz Rotation
Im honestly not trying to offend, but your rotation is basically what the Jazz are already doing. I realize CJ doesnt get 7 min every game, but his season average rounds out to about that.
Your only suggestion is to make AK point forward, which I hate. AK is good at set plays and initiating the offense, but he is an erratic and inconsistent play maker. Sometimes he wows you with a pass, more times then that he tries to do to much and makes a TO. Say what you will about Prices abilities, but AK is not any better as a primary playmaker. He is however, very good as a secondary playmaker. Meaning in set plays that call for a certain pass he is the best outside of Deron at making it (ex. backdoor alley oop play).
I think its a fair and open competition for the backup PG spot.

Re: My Jazz Rotation
I disagree about Knight/Price.
There will be a PG competion in training camp but I expect Price to win.
Both provide ball hawking defense but Price's superior athletism and size allow him to more of a factor defensively.
I also see Price as bringing more energy and hustle after lose balls then Knight.
Knight does beat out Price as a playmaker but Price is a dangerous 3 point shooter. Knight make Brewer look like an outside threat. (Knight did not make a 3 point shot last season. Not one.) In fact he is a poor scorer all around.
Price's total contribution is just much greater then Knight's would be in 10 minutes of game time.
At for the rotation there are only a few tweaks over what was done last season-
No time for Collins.
More time for AK and MIllsap.
Some minutes for CJ.
Much less time for Harpring.

I think you're wrong about Price and Knight. Knight still has very good speed for someone his age, and he's a more experienced playmaker and defender then Price.
I do believe Price will be getting close to 10 minutes a game, but I feel that Knight will be the primary back up. He's more consistent then Price right now which will win out.

I like that weezy sig bat...you a big carter 3 fan?
I disagree that you need a scoring threat at pg to be effective and I wouldnt call Price a dangerous 3pt shooter, he is average and streaky. I actually wouldnt be surprised at all if we see the return of the Milt and Clown backcourt at times. I dont think Almond gets much more burn then he got last season unless he wows Sloan in TC. I think price will be used more as a combo guard at times this season. You also cant deny the fact that he was super inconsistent at PG. Im not convinced yet that he is Derons backup for the future.

Re: My Jazz Rotation
Sloan will put Knight for sure, because he will appreciate more to have the tempo of the game than the hustle or the 3pt shooting of PRice.
Price is the 3rd PG.
Price is the 3rd PG.

Re: My Jazz Rotation
What Sloan will do or what I want him to do.....
Here is what I would like to see
Starters
Okur
Boozer
Harpring
Brewer
Deron
the rotations work this way, but first let me explain. AK is better than Boozer when he is at the top of his game than when Boozer is at the top of his game, however I think Boozer is more consistant and better for the set offense to work.... and that is more so the Jazz system. So lets take advantage of both. AND the differencial between AK and collins is way better and AK needs to take collins time on the floor. So the rotation.
AK is a sub for Okur and Boozer in a three man rotation. When Boozer and AK are in at the same time Boozer plays center. This takes advantage of AK's skills and keeps him around the basket for garbage balls and weak side blocks and easy baskets off of Boozer. When Okur is in he plays outside so.....
Milsap subs for Harpring and plays the tough inside game when they need the second man inside with AK.
Brewer gets sub'ed by Korver. Attention is made to when Boozer and AK are in at the same time to get another outside shooter on the floor. (when Okur is out). CJ sorry but you got your money, now be patient your time will come when Harpring gets and injury for is tough play inside. CJ is the third man here.
Kufos, Almond, Fess only see garabage time and D-league (still allowed for these two??)
Knight is too dang fast and too awesome of a dish player to not be the second man. Assist make easy baskets....why try for a hard basket outside. Knights assists are twice as strong as ever hitting a three point shoot and the Jazz have PLENTY of other players for that role anyway. Price only takes back up when Knight needs the occasion break. Sorry Price your good enough but someone has to hit the bench.
Collins is the out man here. He gets no time in my system except for garabage time.
OH almost left out the 4th quarter team. Eventually Okur will come in for Milsap or Harpring after AK plus (Okur or Boozer) and Milsap, Korver and Knight tear up the bench players from the other team.
Okur
Boozer
AK
Korver
Deron
-These are the best players on the Jazz as they fit together for a team.
And the Jazz go on to win the NBA championship

Jeah, I just moved back to SLC from Orlando so I'm around some new people again to hear some new music, Carter 3 is hot.
And I completely agree with your views on Price. He had some very nice games last season and he is very dynamic and provides a great spark of the bench. However it seems like it is only every few games when he is a factor at all, and maybe only once ever 4-5 games did he really do anything extraordinary.
I think Knight will be able to come in and be a team leader and an assist guy in limited minutes and that's all the Jazz really need. Price is a good scoring spark off the bench, he has a great ability to electrify the crowd when he's on his game, but the Jazz need consistency and Knight will bring that.
I love Price and hope he's a Jazz man for a long time coming, I just thing he's better used in a small line up next to Deron, or when the Jazz are lacking energy then he is as a season long back up PG.

You can see right here, Price seems to have big games couple of weeks, but not consistently enough. And looking at Knights game log, his scoring isn't anything to fall in love with but is assist numbers are top notch. That's what the Jazz need.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/318 ... 6UNHqkvLYF
And god forbid anything ever happening to Deron, but if the Jazz needed a starter who could get everyone else on the team going, it's Knight hands down.

I didnt know you moved back, hope it was for good reasons. I bet you're probably excited that you dont have to buy league pass.
Carter 3 is pretty good, Im not a guy that listens to a lot of the "radio" rap, but I liked this album. Ive always been a big okayplayer/backpack kind of guy. Black Star, Common, The Roots, Lupe, Kanye etc.
Anyway its good to hear your back in the rocky mtns.

Same, not a huge club mix guy, and certainly like the great lyricists over the beat jockies, but whatever, it's all just music. As far as moving back to SLC, a lot of it had to do with the job market in Orlando and that fact that tourism numbers are down drastically creating a huge demand/small opportunity job market, but it's definitely good to be back. I learned a lot.
And I am certainly glad to not have to by league pass, as much as I would like having the NBA channel and seeing the other teams in the NBA play more often, it's probably better for my marriage/social life as a 22 year old to not just sit at home all day watching reruns on the NBA channel.
