Geoff projected the market and made a good offer. It's a fair deal for both sides, hes not overpaid.

I will tell you this... I wouldn't want him on my team for that type of contract. Some people think otherwise but that is their opinion.

IMO it's a good deal... he's pretty similar to Thabo Sefolosha who I would probably pay 6 mil a year, only Cisco has proven more with the advantage of playing more. I like him alot as a player, remember watching him back at Louisville, especially the game after his brother died and he came back and played that night with RIP on his shoe. Tough guy... what ever happened to Taquan Dean though? He was one of my favorite college players.

But yeah, Cisco will peak in 2-3 years and you could be looking at 15/4/2 with little weakness in his game... in 2-3 years that will probably be right on target or maybe even a tad cheap.

Kapono shoots 3's, Garcia can play point, rebounds, plays great defense, has a great shot from inside and beyond the arc. Yeah its a solid deal. He averaged around 17/5 when he was starting for us in a couple of games.

you do realized that you used a sample size of 2 games to prove a point, right?

Uhh try 20 games... im sorry he averaged around 16/5/2

Have you notice that it was Garcia's rookie season against Kobe's best season iirc? And by the way if you watch the whole game, you see Garcia played Kobe VERY good but Kobe was unstoppable that time.

And that video is insignificant and is a poor perspective on Garcia (Even though, Garcia is playing good defense). I doubt you have watched Garcia well. I KNOW Garcia, I have watched him in Louisville and the NBA (All career games). I probably have one of the most accurate overview about Garcia in these boards.

Just let me tell you this or anyone claiming that he is "overpaid" Garcia will prove all the doubters wrong.

I hate using my "directive" side...It sounds homerish...but this particular issue just caught my attention...about people claiming Garcia on this way...

Ok. It is your opinion. I can't argue about that. Well, my opinion and the majority of the Kings fans and the front office opinion is that it was a good deal.

Ehh, I wouldn't say that. They're kind of similar, but Posey has never been the ballhandler or passer that Cisco is and Cisco isn't as proven in playoff situations as Posey.

The best comparison I can think of is Doug Christie, only less controlled in running an offense (but about as talented with PG skills), not quite as good defensively, and a much more talented scorer.

It was a rhetorical statement. It shouldn't need a response.

But anyways, I see Garcia potential as a quality six man for a contender team...i.e. Stephen Jackson/James Posey/Shane Battier type of role players...Knowing that Garcia is on a constant progression since his rookie season. And the incoming season will have the most minutes yet, Garcia will have his best season yet.

People balked when John Salmons got the MLE. And he wasn't as deserving of that contract at the time as Garcia is for this one.

You don`t give role players 5 year contract for 6 million per year. The franchises that do that sooner or later end up with an overpaid, mediocre team with no future...

Here is a list of players with contracts like that that aren't role players.

1.

....

Woops...

Seriously, you can more money spent on less talent on pretty much any other team out there--including successful teams. Over the next couple years, Boston will be paying nearly 6mil a year for veal and Tony Allen. And they survived.

I am not saying Garcia is a bad player. I think he is a good role player. But SAC signed him and Udrih both for 5 year and 30 million. They invested 60 million in these two players for the next 5 years. That is not good management of the cap, IMO.

Yeah, I'm with the birdman. Nothing wrong with the price tag, but you sign your championship-roleplayer-off-the-bench guys once you've got your championship core in place.

The Kings are a couple of all stars away from contention, and maybe Petrie can land them with the 10th/12th/27th pick guys he's been adding, but I wouldn't bet on it, even with his track record. The worst place you can be in the NBA is stuck in mediocrity, and even if the individual pieces are fine, this, along with Udrih and Salmons, strikes me as that kind of signing.
