Steelers vs. Ravens

Look for rookie RB Rashard Mendenhall to make his NFL starting debut against the tough defense of Ray Lewis and the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football.

Did Mendenhall put his foot in his mouth too soon or will he be able to deliver in his first NFL start?

Mendenhall should have kept his hands in his pockets instead of letting his fingers do the talking. It isn't like the Ravens defense needed some additional motivation against the Steelers to begin with.

I like that he is confident, didn't we have a young defensive back do something similar againts the Patriots last year? If the coaching staff is smart, they might consider using him as a decoy quite a bit early in the game. Run some play actions off of him, go deep, and look for some quick scores.

Then again, the Ravens are a very good defensive team and I am sure that they have seen the game tape from last weeks game against the Eagles. I'd look for a lot of blitz packages from them early in the game if it works, all game. Mendenhall might not even be a factor in this game if we can't control the line better than we did last week.

This game should be a good indicator of where we stand in the division. If we struggle in the division, especially at home, then this season is doomed because of the schedule we play outside of the division IMO.

If there is a team that could steal a game from us on our field, it would be the Ravens. But, I still like the Steelers at home in this one.

I'm expecting this game to be another low scoring affair since we're dealin with teams known for their defenses. Although the Steelers should expect the Ravens blitz. The Steelers need to bum rush Joe Flacco into pressure mistakes. I doubt he met a defensive team face to face like the Steelers yet. It's time for them to get acquianted(sp).

The game not only turned out to be a high scoring affair, but it was all kinds of ugly. From a poor first half, mounted injuries, nearly letting the lead get away, and barely winning tells a story of this game. Although they barely made it out against the Ravens tonight. I'm more concern about the matchup against the "Clones of the South", the Jaguars with key injuries happening tonight. Hopefully these injuries are minor and some of the Steelers will be able to play next sunday night.
