^ Maybe not primary, but as a secondary option, he should have some back down moves as "go-to moves," and I believe he will because he will learn stuff from Shaq spending the whole season with him. Now, Dirk is still not intriguing me. I'd much rather hope Lopez pans into a 15-11-2 guy and sign Mike Miller and say Gerald Wallace type players (8-15mil instead of 25mil) and have a team with many star players instead of 2 superstar players.

GUYS WE SHOULD LOOK AT TO BRING OVER IN MY OPINION (MOSTLY 2ND TIER)

Richard Hamilton - 15-18mil
Stephen Jackson - 15-18mil
Josh Howard - 13-15mil
Tracy McGrady (First Tier) 20-22mil
TJ Ford - 10-12mil
Manu Ginobili (First Tier) - 18-20mil
Mehmet Okur - 8-12mil
Mike Miller - 8-10mil

If we gave 3 year contracts with a fourth as team option, I'd go with Stephen Jackson, and a five year contract to Mike at 10mil/yr (stephen at 17mil/yr). If our need was PG because Dragic doesn't pan out, we are really F*cked cause there aren't any PGS to sign, other than Nash but he will be DONE as a starter for sure.... unless we like steal Rose from Chicago

Hmm... too expensive. Sarver won't shell out for that.

Yeah, good point. But then again, Shaq's $21 million expiring contract and etc would be significant of signing Miller. IMO Miller can command around $8-10 million tops. And I think the Suns should consider that for Miller's talents.

If Miller is out the question for that open SF spot, who will be the player that takes it? The Suns IMO will let Hill expire. Bell is a 2 guard. Barnes, Tucker, Diaw are not really ideal fit for the SF position IMO. If Sarver wants legit talent on the SF, he has to pony up and pay for it.

Or just trade Barbosa for a bag of chips - Lay's, anyone?! ;)

1. Getting to see Deron wear a purple jersey isn't exactly that difficult, buddy :P
2. Him signing with the Suns now, well...let's just say that day I'd have to change my signature since from then on we wouldn't be known as the Pants-CRAPPERS anymore.

It's a thought, but he's also not especially good on the defensive end and then definitely need an upgrade there on the wing. I guess Dragic is going to help that, but they need a wing defender pretty badly.

It's a thought, certainly, but it really depends on whom they chase in the '10 off-season.

Yeah. Of course. Under Porter's system, defense should be significant in the wings. After losing Marion and especially Bell is getting older, I can see why there is a need for defensive presence in the perimeter. So yeah, I agree with you on that aspect.

Yep, it is truly what the Suns organization wants. Do they want another potent offensive weapon (Miller) or a defensive perimeter player? They have two years to think about it. :D

Well, Barnes is (in theory) a guy who can defend pretty effectively, so that'll be a nice start. If he proves that he can bring Bell-like defense at the 3/2, then the need for a defensive wing diminishes to a point where looking for some extra offense is more priority...

But then I'd be looking for a 2, not a 3.

I SAY WE SHOOT FOR EITHER Caron Butler OR Dwyane Wade IN 2010 WE WILL HAVE THE MONEY EVEN AFTER SIGNING STAT BACK TO GET ONE OF THESE 2

No, I mean a good player at the 2, someone who shows up to play in the playoffs. He bottoms out some 5% in FG% in the playoffs, has about a 7% drop in 3P% and is otherwise similarly one-dimensional and underachieving. Barbosa isn't that good. He's a nice regular-season piece and he's paid about what he's worth, in the $6-7M range. He is not, however, a worthwhile starting shooting guard.

Meh, Wade. Butler is a way better defender and perimeter shooter and Wade wouldn't be the primary on-ball guy here I don't think, unless we cut Steve Nash's legs off. If Nash retires or something, then sure, Wade is an interesting gamble, but theoretically by then, Dragic will have shown enough to takeover the reins if Nash leaves for some reason.

Dirk in a Suns uniform, Hmm, I just couldn't imagine it. Plus, he's talked about the possibilities of retiring once his contract with the Mavs expires, see below:

Well, it is a nice start like you said. A somewhat of a stop gap for the defensive wing figure. Barnes is an effective defensive player that has good defensive instincts. But then again, I don't think I can rely Barnes to provide Bell-like defense. Probably close to it but not likely IMO.

I think guys they need to look at as potential Bell replacements are Tony Allen, Rashad McCants, Roger Mason, Marquis Daniels, Nick Young (tough to get, but I like his potential), Rodney Carney, Kirk Snyder. Bear in mind these are all non-stars and I think have the skillset we need from a SG. McCants has the best scoring ability, Mason and Daniels have the best playmaking abilities, and Snyder the best size. Young has the most potential and probably the toughest to get. None are the defender Bell is, but I think Allen has the most potential there.

I didn't mean as a replacement for Bell, I meant you throw Barnes out there at the 3 and you can run Bell at the 2 and then you can use Barbosa and Diaw and cap space and stuff to chase more legit options to replace Bell and Hill and even Nash and Shaq.
