Another fact we have to like about the Harris pick:

The Jets' current linebackers coach Jim Herrmann was the defensive coordinator at Michigan in 2005. He is familiar with Harris and could definitely give Mangini and company inside on him.

Our 6th round pick: JACOB BENDER

6-6, 316 lbs offensive lineman from Nicholls State, can play OT, RT and also G if you hear the reports. Good pick, very athletic player yxou maybe can give Clement or Moore a run for their money.

Yeah a small college stud that neutralized Adam Carriker (the DE from Nebraska drafted 12th overall in the 1st round) in a his teams biggest game in 2006 so the big kid has some talent.

And the Jets took a WR in the 7th round. A 5'10" WR by the name of Chansi Stuckey from Clemson. Being tabbed as a slot receiver.

Jacob Bender was gaining a lot of steam going into the draft, teams where really looking for him in the later rounds. Huge BOOM/BUST player.
Jazz: Under reconstruction, we'll be back.

Chansi Stuckey is also a nice pick. We need a speedster next to Coles and Cotchery to stretch the field and Stuckey has the potential to become just that.

Clemson is a team that barely ever throws the ball and so he went a little bit under the radar plus he had a foot injury in his senior season. He only had bad times at the Combine but he was still recovering from his injury. He is rumored to have below 4.4 speed and he is really elusive and has good burst.

Here's a bit more on Big Jake:

Strengths:
Has excellent size and a large frame...Very athletic...Quick and agile...Mobile with nice range...A natural knee bender...A hard worker...He could potentially play left tackle...Experienced and dominated his level...Tough and durable...Major upside.

Weaknesses:
Did not always play against top competition...Is not overpowering and his weight room strength doesn't translate to the field...Not a great technician and will need to work on mastering the finer points of the game...More of a long-term project??

Notes:
Was a three-year starter...Performed well in the Magnolia All-Star Classic...Has all the physical tools you look for and he just needs to be developed...An underrated prospect who is flying under the radar right now but could wind up being a steal.

Here's a good read about Jacob Bender...

http://www.hometownannapolis.com/cgi-bin/read/2007/04_27-35/SPO

Here's a few blurbs that are eye-catching:

"Jacob dominated at this level. He's very athletic for someone that size and has a real nasty side," Thomas said. "I told all the scouts the same thing: Jacob is tough, hard-nosed and willing to work as hard as necessary. He's never been redshirted so he's a young senior with a ton of upside."

"I firmly believe that Jacob is the most explosive offensive tackle in the draft, and he may also be the quickest," Linta said. "Jacob has all the physical tools you look for and you would have to be nuts not to like his work ethic and personality."

Great find moocow!!!

Man, I'm really happy about the Jets draft. One thing we just always have to remember, by trading up Mangini got exactly the players he wanted and not the players that were available.
