Problem is, we've had an offensive minded backup PG before in NVE and last year, Damon Stoudamire.
Those 2 were veterans. They hesitated to go shot happy and be a sparkplug off the bench like we hoped they would. That's why i questioned the Salim signing. While I do think the Spurs could surely use a sparkplug off the bench, history hasn't shown us that Pop likes these kind of players as a backup PG. Pop likes defensive minded backup PGs. Plus, Salim hasn't shown us enough to be given the green light to go shot happy. NVE and Damon was essentially given the green light, didn't even have to earn their minutes, and they still didn't work out as a sparkplug backup PG.

NVE and Damon were also both in the last days of their careers
Damon actually was still struggling with his shot for a little while before he became a Spur

Salim is in no way a PG. He is a poor passer even for a SG.
