-springs had good coverage but in the first half, TO's hands were straight bricks. He couldn't catch a cold.
-horton did get the start over daughty at SS, from both the pregame intro's and from me seeing him make a few tackles early on in the game.
-the second Rabach penalty wasn't his fault. he thought campbell was going to take off so he bumrushed a linebacker downfield and got called for downfield blocking without realizing that campbell dumped it off last second. i didn't get to see the hold on the first penalty, but i'm assuming it's legit.
-Santana Moss and JC have pretty good chemistry working because all the ridiculously wide open santana catches look like they're the result of option routes where santana looks for a gap in the zone and hopes Campbell finds it too. I'm guessing that this is the source of criticism of JC locking in on the primary option, when he's waiting for Santana to get to the hole in the zone.
-it looks like the quick pitch/reverse is a staple of the running game, and not a gimmick play. I guess it keeps the weak side backer honest.
-Is it just me or has portis transformed to a hard-nosed between the tackles runner at the expense of some explosiveness? one could argue that he's waiting for blocks to develop, but it just looks like he's slower; i.e. getting chased down from behind, breakaway runs curtailed by shoestring tackles, etc.
-we're keeping in the rb's as blockers who chip edge rushers and LB's and if they get beat, they go squat in the middle of the field. Thats' a safe dump-off spot if your running back isn't that great of a receiver but i think portis has the hands to catch flare passes. I'd rather the dump-off be in the flat than in the middle with his back to a charging MLB.
-love the fact that zorn rules the offensive playcalling with a fascist fist. The playcalling has been balanced in terms of run/pass but the variety of run and pass plays have been pretty diverse. no 3 straight off tackle rights in a row. I'm glad we've progressed from a 1988 to a 2008 playcalling mentality.
-You can barely read emotions on Campbell's face. i can't decide if he's being calm cool and collected or just too sh*t nervous to express feelings. or, he's just a dumb country bumpkin too stupid to comprehend what's going on??

Great win, parody is alive and well, the NFC East needs to be split up like Ma Bell and Standard Oil. This monopoly of power is too great.

A few random observations:

- Zorn is a QB miracle worker. Campbell went from locking in on one receiver in week one to going through all his reads 3 weeks later.

- We absolutely FRIED Terrance Newman.

- Horton makes another play. I doubt ya'lls boy Reed would have gotten there in time.

- Love the old school "three cheers" after the win. Must feel like 1975 to Zorn. LOL

Horton is a good looking prospect. Last week he shed a block and got in on a tackle on the RB vs Ari. This week he beat Owens to the sidelines on a sweep. He does things on the field that a lot of safeties in the NFL can't consistently do. Carlos Rogers may actually not be the bust I thought he was. I'm starting to see confidence in him that isn't faux but actual belief in his skills. JC is coming along. Liked Chris Wilson's aggressiveness. Waiting on Malcolm Kelly because he's a potential playmaker for the Skins.

OMFG WHAT A GREAT WIN. I HATE DALLAS!

**** **** **** **** the Cowboys! Our defense is so underrated. Secondary is awesome, linebackers minus Marcus Washington are awesome. Defensive line also got pressure yesterday but Romo is great in the pocket. Too bad the guy is an extremely overrated passer and would be below average without Terrell Owens.

Liked the Mike Wise column where he says the Dallas ungodly offense jsut got stomped but Greg Blaches 'Cut and Paste' defense.

Cut & Paste is a good nickname for a defense. First you Cut 'em up with jabs and body blows then you Paste 'em a good one right in the grill. Knock out.

Seriously big props to C-los Rogers for shutting down TO three times in a row with perfectly timed hits on the pass defense.

to his defense, i think he was mocking another poster who claimed that Jason Campbell didn't have the mental capacity to run the WC offense.

Ugh, what a horrible start to the game. I know there are still more than 3 quarters of football left, but we look nothing like we did a week ago. It doesn't even seem that the Eagles are trying all that hard.

Two very nice drives. The last drive of the half was somewhat conservative yet pretty damn brilliant. And I know I am gonna mess up the spelling, but Suisham for the freaking president for making that last kick

Being down 5 is completely different than being down 8.

WOW I was scared at that 4th and 1. Damn nice to get it.

Portis with 2nd straight 100+ yard game. Campbell yet again no INTs and wow was it sweet to see him run for a crucial first down

And as I said a couple of posts back - Suisham was major in getting us this win. those 3 hard earned FGs cemented the success in 2nd half.

And what about our damn defense

? 28 minutes without a damn 1st down for the Eagles.

A couple of weird rookie mistakes, but damn ... this is sweet

4-1 BABY!!!!

Btw: ARE wasn't touched on that potentially game-clinching play.

This is one of those games in previous seasons where i'm sitting bitching and whining about how the refs stole the game from the 'skins. Thankfully, this team doesn't want to have any of that nonsense, shake off the bad calls and take care of business.

And that call on 4th and 1 is a complete microcosm between the difference of Joe Gibbs and Jim Zorn.

i do like the criticism-be-damned attitude of going for it on 4th and 1 and think that more coaches around the league should take the gamble.

that non-tackle on reggie brown was lucky that it wasn't somebody more elusive or else it might've gone for 6.

the ARE-Cooley play looked like another option route (evident by ARE first flashing the ball before winding up to throw it) where randle-el would've ran if the defense was in coverage, and thrown if it was in pursuit. A pretty good play but would be harder to guard if randle-el had more receivers to stretch out the secondary. Portis and Sellers stayed in to block but maybe sending portis to sit by the hashes as a dump-off to off-set overpursuit by the D-End/OLB.

Zorn is looking like a decent head coach. I never agreed with the gibbs hire to begin with and haven't liked this much from what i've seen since from the head coach possibly... ever.

Gibbs, Spurrier, Schottenheimer, Turner... vague childhood memories of Classic Gibbs and a flash of Richie Petitbon... nope... ever.
