Wachovia....

Post#1 » by TheAnalyst » Mon Sep 29, 2008 9:54 pm

So they were bought by Citi today. There has been wonder if the Wachovia center will now be the same or not. I hope it doesn't change I like the name we have now. But it would be cool to have a name that's not a company. Like The Garden or The Palace.

Most likely "The Citi Center".

It would not bother me much, except that Citi is also the naming rights sponsor for the Mets new stadium. There is something wrong about that in the context of the heated Philly-NY rivalry, even though they are venues for different sports. Admittedly no name will fit the way the "FU Center" (First Union) did.

I always hated the name Wachovia Center, glad to see it go even if we get the same name as the Mutts new field. :D

Many years ago the 76ers played at Convention Hall, which was later named the Civic center. Why not just call the arena the City Center. It sounds good to me.

Why not call it the Philadelphia Dome. We should make it INTIMIDATING to come play in Philly. People are intimidated when you play at the Palace. They were intimidated by playing in the old Boston Garden where you could literally hear the spirits of Larry Bird and the other Celtic greats.

Corestates Center = First Union Center = Wachovia Center = Citi Center

It's certainly been a crazy first 12 or so years of that building. By the way, how much longer will Citi last??

How much longer will anything last is the real question. It's about time our ELECTED LEADERS. Started leading the country and not their own pockets. I suggest for everyone to keep a close eye on this situation and pinpoint the leaders inside the issues. And the rest of the slime? Vote em out! This is our time to take control of this government. As the founding fathers proposed.

Wells Fargo and Citi are fighting over Wachovia.

Wachovia is my bank - but I didnt choose them. They bought Golden West Financial a few years ago for billions. Not only did they overpay - but most of GW's mortgages were poor and the bottom fell out right after the sale.

That blunder is what brought Wachovia to brink of collapse.

Maybe we can call Slimer and hire him to mess with the other teams before the games.
