Our best skilled players need to MESH now!

Post#1 » by CuttingEdge » Tue Sep 30, 2008 2:52 am

I'm talking about the guys that have the B-Ball IQ and handles. That's TMAC, Scola, Yao, Artest, Rafer. These five guys are have the ability to create for others as well as be our primary ball dictators. My question is have they stepped on the court and started to gel with each other yet and get a feel? The season underway and this squad looks damn good on paper yet do they know that they have to be affirmative in trying to develop a chemistry prior to the start of the season or even preseason?

The problem will be finding a way to handle McGrady and Artest. McGrady is a great playmaker...we might have to go with a point-forward type of thing but thats gonna screw with Alston a bit since he is use to running the plays and what not. Scola and Yao need to work on their own thing. Its not important for them...the ball will find Yao and he will be in a finishing position 95% of the time. So will Scola..so their individual games take center stage b/c they will rarely be in a position where they have to share anything.

Its Alston, McGrady and Artest that have to come together. And thats not on them. Players play...coaches coach. This is on Adelman and in article I read a while ago...he understands that says its their biggest challenge. I think the answer is to give McGrady the ball and let him do what he does best...penetrate and dish. He is probably the smartest basketball player on the team...let him have the ball and put the burden on him to get Yao, Scola, Artest involved. By doing that...it takes the scoring load off of him and we'll be fine.
