Cain for Fielder and Hardy?

Post#1 » by Hopper15 » Fri Sep 19, 2008 7:42 pm

Gammons reporting that this is back on the discussion table. Would you do it?

On the one hand, it makes a more formidable every day lineup. Sandoval would probably move to 3B permanently.

Lewis
Wynn or Nate
Pablo
Fielder
Bengie
Rowand
Hardy
Whoever's at 2B

On the other hand, it puts a big hole in the rotation. Alderson and Bum are at least two years away, so you'd have to fill the void with a Hennessey or try to get a decent FA.

Deal or no deal?

Not a chance, Cain and Lincecum are off limits.

Well, I don't know if Cain is off limits, he hasn't been great this year. Fielder just isn't good enough to trade him.

Considering the crap run support he gets?

It will be a lot easier to find bats in the winter then it would to replace Cain.

i really want to keep cain; i've been a fan of him since day one. but 60 HRs a year from hardy and fielder, thats a bit hard to pass up. i wish there was another player the giants could trade instead of matt, but there only two real good players, lincecum and cain, and the giants arent trading them.

Could you imagine the Giants if they signed Sabathia in the off season?

From that same wiretap article that mentions Sabathia:

Brian Sabean wrote:We'll look heavily in the market for relief help. Whether we decide to do that with a starting pitcher remains to be seen because I think the price is going to be exorbitant.

Yuck.

Free agent relievers blow up in your face like 95% of the time. Don't do it.

We do this trade 100 times out of 100. Especially if we sign CC.

It's basically trading Cain for CC, Prince and Hardy. Who wouldn't do that trade???? With our offense we need it.

yeah anyone would do that, but would we have enough money to sign all three players?

I'm not doing it, Fielder is a DH that's soon on his way to the AL. Fielder is packing way too much weight to play first base.

However I would trade Sanchez for JJ Hardy in a second.

If the Giants are dangling Sanchez for Hardy, that sounds fair. If I had to choose between Uggla and Hardy. I'd pick Hardy.

cf-rowand
ss-hardy
lf-manny
1b-fielder
rf-bonds
2b-renteria
3b-sandoval
c-bengie

screw defense, they'd score 15 runs a game
