Whatevs. I guess we should be used to getting shafted by free agents.
I'm all about the culture the Wolves are brewing, guys who play the right way and want to be here.

This kind of shocks me. I know the guy is a longshot, but I would have thought MIA wouldn't go over the lux for another question mark at PG.

Agreed. This is why I haven't been gung ho for these Miller trade scenarios and, really for the the FA plan. If we can't attract a PG who won't even play this year over a team that is a worse fit for him, then what are our chances on the open market for a top-shelf FA? Lets stick with what we have this year and see what they can do.

It does not bother me too much because I could not figure where the guy would get minutes. We seem to have a crunch right now.

the heat signed undrafted FA jason richards this offseason who got a season ending injury making his contract gauranteed...were it not for teh injury, we would have cut ricahards and signed livingston...unless we free up cap somehow, its unlikely miami will go over the lux tax to sign livingston

Re: Heat sign Livingston, Wolves sign.. Kevin Ollie
Interesting...
Livingston and ollie do not contridict each other. Ollie is a vet mentor 3rd pg. Livingston is a young potential player with skills to be an active part of rotation.
My question then is where would Livingston fit? We already have Gomes/Miller/Brewer/Shad/Carney at the 2/3 spots.

Re: Heat sign Livingston, Wolves sign.. Kevin Ollie
My main reasoning for wanting Livingston would be to eventually roll with this lineup.
PG. Shaun Livingston
SG. Randy Foye
SF. Mike Miller
PF. Kevin Love
C. Al Jefferson
Livingston doesn't have much of a jumper, but with Foye sliding to SG and focusing on scoring and Mike Miller at SF I don't think that would be a problem. Hopefully Love will adjust to NBA 3-point range pretty quickly too.

No no no. Why must the Wolves always be punished with crippled PGs? Michael Williams, Terrell Brandon and T-Hud are rolling over in their graves.

Yeah, I read that part. I'm just saying the Wolves haven't done well with PGs that have had leg problems.

Reading Zgoda's blog, we may be jumping the gun on Livingston signing in Miami.
However, assuming he does indeed sign in Miami, I wouldn't be worried about our ability to attract a top-shelf FA. We're most likely offering Livingston the minimum anyway. I'm sure that's what everyone is offering him, considering we have no idea if he has any skills left or if he can even move on the court. So we might've lost out because we weren't the ideal situation. But trust me, when players see $$$$$ they will come.

I agree with TF. Livingston doesn't demonstrate our ability to sign free agents one way or the other. I think anyone who gives him a contract is just a team that's willing to buy a lottery ticket that he can become an effective investment starting perhaps in 2009.
This post on the Miami board was enlightening.

girlygirl wrote:I've read several articles/reports that claimed Livingston wants guaranteed money and wants more than the vet minimum. I don't know if I'd do this if I were the Heat -- he's not supposed to be ready to play for several more months -- and he wasn't all that good in the brief period(s) of time that he managed to stay healthy. If he will sign a non-guaranteed or partially guaranteed deal, maybe he is worth the risk -- but not if he wants a fully guaranteed deal
