Which superstar would you take?

Post#1 » by eyejayem » Thu Oct 2, 2008 2:45 pm

Any superstar or regular starter with current contract issues, final year, or on the block who are you taking and why? And what is the reasonable deal?

Shawn Marion, Carlos Boozer, Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, Lamar Odom, Stephen Jackson, Monte Ellis*(slim possibility his contract is voided),Andrei Kirilenko, Josh Howard, Mike Miller, David Lee, Zach Randolf and Eddy Curry( I laugh out loud), Rasheed Wallace, Leandro Barbosa, Bois Diaw, Ben Gordon, Kirk Hinrich, Larry Hughes (sorry)

So Who are you taking? Are you gearing up for 2010 or winning now?

Mike Miller, i think he is one of the best fits. He gives you good size/shooting ability at the 2 guard position. He is pretty athletic, runs the floor well, a good character guy, and hustles on defense. Plus his contract on has 2 years on it.....

As for the deal, maybe wally/09 1st/cash for miller/cardinal. This deal will help us win now but also leave us with cap flexibility for 2010..

I don't think any of those guys are superstars but Boozer is the best player of the bunch. We can't take him so I'd go with Josh Howard.

Im not sure if I would take Curry or Randolph even if the Knicks offered their unprotected 09 1st rounder with him. Because it would ruin our 2010 free agent plans. Unless it was a Top 2 pick but theres no way to tell obvoiusly since its the "lotterry". I'd love to have a chance to get Demar DeRozan or BJ Mullens though. DeRozan is the athletic freak who has the Prototype SG size and superstar potential. Mullens would be the ideal replacement for old Big Z.

Though I think Knicks fans would commit suicide if all this went down knowing that they helped the Cavs become a potential dynasty with a top 2 pick and ruined the Knicks chances of signing Lebron. So I dont think the Knicks would risk such a trade either.

I would take Boozer, Marion, Carter, Mike Miller in that order for this upcoming season.

As much as I hate Rasheed Wallace I must admit he would be a perfect fit in the Cavs frontcourt. He's also an expiring contract. With that said there's no way Detroit hands him over to the Cavaliers.

If Boozer became a Cavalier again all things would be forgiven. I do however think that Sheed would be the best option. My only problem with him is that he enjoys playing away from the basket. But his versatility would be outstanding for the Cavs.

I think we need a post prescence more than anything but I would love to get David Lee. A double-double machine from our PF on garbage baskets without any set plays run for him is perfect for us. With Mo and Lebron, Z becomes our 3rd option and we dont have enough touches for someone to get 10 to 12 touches a game. Someone like Lee would be perfect next to Bron based on ability and determination. And if we can somehow get rid of Ben Wallace in the process, a future rotation of Lee, Varajao, and hopefully Hickson would be great. But if we keep Wallace, Varajao is gone.

If you like defense, Mike Miller ain't for you.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Grizz fan(I accept your condolences) and while Miller's offensive game is pretty sick, especially when he goes in that zone and buries 3 after 3, his defense is some of the worst in the league. That's why he got traded this year.

And don't even get me started about his immense choking. That 3 will fall when it doesn't matter but, not when the game is on the line, go ask any Grizz fan, all 17 of us will tell you the same thing.

I'm with eyejam, Lee would be a great fit here I believe. He would give the Cavs what they were looking for with Boozer, a garbage man and hustler around the hoop.

You guys need a good PG, so I go with J-Kidd.

If I want anybody from Dallas it is Josh Howard while is value is going down or Bass. J-Kidd will sign in LA likely after his contract expires. It would be between Cle and LA but Kidd wants the O and not the D oriented team.

IMHO... No freaking way people are forgetting.

It's not like he just left and happened to come back.. like Kenny Lofton or something..

He betrayed us!

we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one

agree with jnester.. can't imagine we would forgive or forget.. not too mention that we would have to pay a lot for him and he would probably just boozer us again after this season and sign with mia..

I think that if people believe that Boozer could help bring the Cavs a championship they'd overcome the dislike in a hurry. I don't think that he'll ever be a fan favorite again but still think he'd be tolerated on the team.

We just drafted 2 PF's in the draft so I dought Ferry is itching to trade for yet another PF. And if he did it most likely wouldn't be for Boozer, lol. That would be funny though.

Plus an upgrade at the starting SG position is our biggest need right now. We need a protoype size SG that only plays SG and is a good player. West and Gibson are both combo guards. Sasha plays both SG and SF and so does Wally.

Wally is getting up there in age and would probably stuggle defensivley against the faster and more athletic 2-guards. I just wouldn't trust his defense as a starting SG for 82 games.

Sasha is way too inconsistent and makes too many bad decisions. Also it seems like most of his moves are telegraphed. Thats why he gets called for so many offensive fouls.

West and Boobie are nice players to have playing occasional back-up SG. I hope Kinsey develops into a good player because he's the only player on the team who's natural position is SG.
