Stoudemire has injured eye examined
by Paul Coro - Oct. 2, 2008 12:51 PM
The Arizona Republic
Suns power forward Amare Stoudemire missed Thursday morning's practice in Tucson because he had returned to Phoenix to have a torn iris in his right eye examined.

Stoudemire was poked in the eye by Boris Diaw during Wednesday night's scrimmage. He is expected to return to Tucson tonight but will not participate because his eyes were dilated by the Suns team ophthalmologist, Jay Schwartz, during an exam today.

"He got hit pretty hard," Suns General Manager Steve Kerr said. "He had some damage to his iris, which is not serious fortunately. No damage to the cornea or retina."

Stoudemire is expected to be able to return to action wearing goggles on Friday, when the Suns have a 5 p.m. public scrimmage at McKale Center

Good to hear Amare is alright and not much damage anyway.

Speaking of the scrimmage, anybody know what the 2 teams will look like?

Logically, the matchups will be :

Nash vs Dragic
Bell vs Barbs
Barnes vs Hill
Amare vs Diaw
Shaq vs Lopez

But who's gonna play with who? They gonna go starters vs reserves or what?

Each team will have one each of those you would think

plus one of Singletary or Hite

plus Amundson or Tucker

Maybe

Nash
Singletary
Bell
Tucker
Diaw
Amundson
O'Neal

and

Dragic
Hite
Barbosa
Barnes
Hill
Amare
Lopez

^^Yeah, I rather see us do that then go starters vs bench players.

Good thing this year our scrubs are young, high energy guys like Admunson and Singletary instead of wash ups like Pike or Marks

Seems as though Amare will be fine, touch wood! Same goes for all guys in training camp, please stay healthy!

I see similarly a First Unit/Second Unit going head to head at each other in scrimmages. Then again, who knows what Porter is likely to do.....

It seems that camp has been successful so far, hopefully the players continue to warm to each other and to Porter. I'm keen to see what Dragic and Lopez can do on the floor!

I say all Suns players must now wear goggles for added protection when Diaw is present.

Hope he doesn't realy need to wear those goggles for the rest of his career. Man, this guy just never runs out of bad luck :-?

That's terrible. I feel bad for Amare. And for Boris as well. He must be guilt-ridden hard. I hope he doesn't have to wear them goggles for the rest of his career. But then again maybe we'll some some Kareem-esque defense from him.

Shouldda signed my jersey! 7 years of bad luck! Amare and Nash refused to sign for me and a group of little kids I brought to meet them, but Diaw and Piatkowski were true gentlemen!
