Tommie Harris Suspended for 1 Game

Suspended for violation of an undisclosed team rule. I think it's funny he got suspended for a game that he probably would have missed due to injury anyway.

Against Detroit who can't run the ball for crap anyway this shouldn't be too big of a loss, it's more of a concern that Vasher and Tillman are both questionable.

Reportedly missed a therapy session for his knee. Yes, he was going to miss the Lions game anyway only now he won't get paid for it.

Harris is looking awfully concerning as a guy we committed to long term. He's been invisible all year and struggled with injuries the past two years.

I'm not worried about the game, but I hope he's able to get healthy so that he can be an impact player again.

I think that's why the Bears only guaranteed $10 million of the $40 million contract he signed and that's all being paid this year. If the Bears walk away from TH after '08, they owe him zilch.

Did you guys hear on sports radio today about how Tommie apparently had a child out of wedlock a few weeks ago. Apparently, with him being a really big Christian man, this has really messed with his head and maybe the cause his recent play on the field.

Thoughts?

Use a rubber. Or in his case a trash bag.

Taking a game off could help refocus Harris, who took the suspension hard. The nameplate above Harris' locker was removed Thursday—nobody knew who took it off—and his presence will be missed.

Anyone concerned about this?

I read somewhere else that it was 18 million guaranteed and just assumed it was spread out evenly across all seasons. If it's only 10 million guaranteed and all payable this year then nevermind, that's an awesome job by bears management.

Well, unless Biggs is mistaken, it's $10 million guaranteed - and it's all being paid this year.

The hitch in Harris' contract is that there's no guaranteed money moving forward. He got $10 million guaranteed in the deal struck in June, all payable in the first year. The $6.67 million roster bonus in 2009 isn't guaranteed. Neither are the $5 million in bonuses spread over 2010 and 2011 or the $8 million de-escalating roster bonus in 2012. He has to play to collect.

While I'd hate to lose him obviously the contract offers the Bears financial protection if his knee won't cooperate going forward.
