Minny accepts. While we don't like taking on Gadz contract we believe Kwame adds some much needed depth and defense to our frontline.

With the acquisition of Ridnour, Telfair is on the block.

Detroit accepts

This deal gets rid of the last unwanted contract(Gadzuric) that ran past the goal of 2010. While we hate to lose the defensive potential of Afflalo in the process, Carney is a decent replacement. We are well on our way towards our goal.

The Knicks and Sacramento Kings have a trade to announce:

The Knicks will trade Stephon Marbury to the Sacremento Kings for Brad Miller, Sheldon Williams and Kenny Thomas.

The Knicks place Jerome James on waivers and ship Patrick Ewing Jr to their D-league afflilate to clear roster room.

I would have preferred a better prospect in exchange for Thomas' crappy deal but Brad Miller is too useful to turn down.

P.S: I admit the whole D-league thing is an obvious attempt to keep Ewing Jr but other teams have players in their d-league so I think it should count. If it doesn't I'll be happy to waive Ewing as long as those other teams are forced to make tough roster choices.

Milwalkee GM here, I accept the trade witht eh clippers of expirings nad thier first for villaneuva. Charlie doesn't fit into the teams long term plans, not to mention that a unprotected clippers pick ona a team.,,,, that has very fragile prospects.. it's a great deal

If I don't respond to your email, i'm sorry, i might have just missed it.

Kings approve the Knicks/Kings deal as it currently stands (assuming Knicks will cut the appropriate amount of players)

The Knicks and Nuggets have agree to a trade.

The New York Knicks trade:
Jared Jeffries
Malik Rose
Nazr Muhammed
2009 second rounder from (chicago)

The Denver Nuggets trade:

Kenyon Martin
Matt Carroll
2009 first round pick (Denver)

I like this deal for NY. Ever since the Knicks traded Lee and Randolph they have needed some help at power forward. Bringing in Kmart is something of a risk but its the addition of the pick and Carroll's shooting helps offset it a little bit.

So why is the trade good for the Kings?

Well, lets not forget that Marcus Camby was given away for the option to switch 2nd round picks 2 years into the future. At least he was able to get rid of Kenny Thomas as well. The Kings are obviously going for a youth movement and have a good young nucleus. They just need some minutes.

/shrug. Don't need to convince me. It'll need to be a really egregarious difference in value for me to worry about it. It's just impressive. And by the way, you got a prospect too.

For the Kings, we are trying to rebuild. However, we feel that we have the main pieces to our team already in tact. K. Martin, D. Greene, J. Thompson, S. Hawes. We have faith in Geoff Petrie and his drafting/scouting ability.

We understand that we will not be in contention for a playoff seed this year, therefore, we decided to move Kenny and Miller's contracts. We enjoy the players, but not the contracts. With Shareef forced to retire due to injury and his contract coming off the books, the Kings will have roughly 30 million cap room in 09. And will continue to have 20mill + cap room up until 2011. Within these 3 years, we feel that we will have a chance to sign someone great.

Miller/Thomas needed some more salary, and going down the list, Sheldon was next in line to go.

The Hawks and Mavs have agreed upon a deal that will send Mike Bibby, Randolph Morris, Thomas Gardner and Houston's '10 1st for Mo Williams, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Jose Barea.

Mike Bibby-$15, 225, 000
Randolph Morris $797,581
Thomas Gardner $711,517
Houston '10 1st

16 734 098

for

Zydrunas Ilgauskas $10,841,615
Mo Williams $8,353,000
Jose Barea $1,500,000

20 694 615

16 734 098 x 1.25=20 917 622>20 694 615

This deal clearly involves two teams going in different directions, one is looking to win it all now while the other is looking to build around a solid young core by freeing up cap and gathering up picks for the future. This deal alone frees up 19 million for the Mavs next season and gives them a shot at landing a stud in the '10 F.A class. With Rose on board, Mo was clearly a distraction and his long term contract needed to be removed from the roster. Zydrunas needs to play for a contender, with the Mavs having a younger Diop waiting to take over the starting C spot, this is a clear youth movement. Also Bibby's vet leadership should be a plus in mentoring the young Derrick Rose in his rookie season. For the Hawks this brings them closer to the elite of the East as they continue to build a team that will try to dethrone the beasts from the East, the Boston Celtics.

Dallas accepts this deal. This is a clear case of rebuilding continuation. We pick up another MAJOR expiring and a 1st as well as clear some cap room via Ilgauskas' departure. We feel Diop is ready to start for a rebuilding team and provide some defensive leadership on the court. Barea is moved as he really won't be getting any PT behind two sold PG's. The pickup of Randolph Morris, although minor, will help to consolidate depth up front.

The Hawks and Lakers have agreed to a trade that will send Maceo Baston, Nick Fazekas and James Singleton for Luke Walton.

Maceo Baston $2,272,860
James Singleton $797,581
Nick Fazekas $711,517

3 781 958

for

Luke Walton $4,420,000

3 781 958 x 1.25=4 727 447>4 420 000

Trade 2

Lakers trade:

James Singleton
Nick Fazekas

Atlanta trades:

No one - As per CBA, Atlanta can take on minimum salary players without sending equal contracts back.

The Lakers are looking to cut Walton's salary off the books and the Hawks are in need of some bench depth, simple deal for both sides.

Before accepting the Lakers waive Coby Karl's unguaranteed contract.

Dealing Walton saves me lots of money and takes his long term contract off my books. With Udoka on the depth chart as well, Walton's role wasn't as defined and I'm currently looking at Sasha/Udoka getting the big minutes off the bench.
