Ivan had a pretty good review of the scrimmage. Ivan in his blog entry also said that Haywood is out "a week". On another blog someone translated that as, next it will be he's out the whole pre-season but will be ready for the season opener. Then it will be January, then the All-Star break, and then definitely ready for the playoffs, oops, I meant next season. I was at the scrimmage, and it was okay. DMac had an excellent all around game. He seemed very confident and self-assured. Caron did his thing.
Beyond that, Stewie hit a few shots and actually blocked a few shots. Etan looked aggressive. Dray played pretty well. DerMarr had a few good moments. McGee flashed a few times. Dee Brown didn't shoot well, but he ran the offense pretty well and is pesky, if not effective on defense. Nick Young looked better when he was driving than when he was shooting off balance jumpers.

Re: Training Camp Information?????
My take:
McGee did a little shot blocking and had a little offense in the first 3 quarters but then had a monster 4th quarter even though it was only 5 and a half minutes. I came away very hopeful for him offensively after that. Maybe not this year, but it's there and it could be there in flashes this year if he gets the chance.
Blatche & Young: I like the potential of Young and love the potential of Blatche but can't stand their body language. They are both way too nonchalent for my taste. Both McGee and especially DMac both looked far more intense. Don't get me wrong, they're both great guys and Blatche was very nice and very patient signing autographs and taking pictures but one year of college w/an ACC coach or something similar and he could be a monster--then again he probably would have gone higher.
DMac: Took it more seriously than anyone, guarded every single type of player effectively, I hope he's made the leap to guarding the perimeter, he certainly did a good job of it during the scrimmage.
Dixon: Handles seemed to improve even if court vision has it, didn't look to shoot much but made most of what he took.
Demarr Johnson: Hit some big threes and had some okay drives, I was hoping for more from him. No other bubble guy made much of an impression on me.
Etan: Got blocked a whole lot but boarded very well. Had a tough time w/McGee in the 4th.

Re: Training Camp Information?????
A few thoughts on the scrimmage:
Dee Brown took the mike and thanked the fans for their attendance at the start of the game... that was kind of weird. It showed he has a little leadership potential, but I don't understand why a guy whose spot isn't even assured on the team took this ceremonial role onto himself.
Caron: Has slimmed down and seems to have worked on his handles. If he stays healthy, he could have a beast of a year... that's a big if of course.
Antawn: His hip looked like it was bugging him a lot.
Gil: Looked kind of fat.
Javale: Unreal athleticism. Some truly polished skills on offense (on 2 of 3 possessions on average)... gets abused on defense, but does block some shots, largely because he plays with his elbows above the rim.
Etan: If he logs any kind of serious minutes this year, we are in real, real trouble. I'd much rather see Blatche as the back up 5... even though that is not his natural role. Etan's bad habits (coming back down with rebounds instead of going straight up, being slow to recognize doubles an passing from the post) were in full evidence. I felt a lump in my throat when he was introduced to a loud ovation because I like the guy and am truly glad for his recovery, but his absence was one of the reasons we had the kind of middling success we had last year. Best of luck Etan... just please have it with another team.
N1: awful on many possessions until the final period.
Blatche: Still not enough polish on his game to take that next step.
Songalia: looked decent, looks like he has extended his range to the three point line.
Pech: Looked stronger (especially in his legs)... shot the ball with confidence, but unlike last year actually connected.
Dee Brown: Is by far the fastest guy on the team but has one major flaw: He doesn't have the first clue as to how to play basketball.
Demarr: I thought he, and not Dom, was the best perimeter defender on the floor. His offensive game is so, so. He tries to handle the ball, but looked very much out of place trying to solve the press. (sidebar, the Wiz press looked pretty devastatingly good... possibly because of the lack of pgs on the team... we will struggle against Philly)
Daniels: Is Daniels, no more no less. If he goes down we are in a mess of trouble.
EJ: Looked totally slim and ripped. What you been doing in the off-season EJ?
Juan: Will help the team here and there... but man, he still looks so puny out there... he does look like he's been lifting, but he just doesn't have the frame to add any mass. Sweet stroke though.
Dom: Worked his tail off on the defensive end. Looked good in warmups sticking jumpers.
DeShawn: Didn't really seem to exert himself much out there last night. He was wearing two stockings so maybe he's a bit sore or knicked up at the end of camp.
The other guys (McCullough, etc.... nah, nothing there)
