NY-Cle Both systems benefit

Post#1 » by eyejayem » Sat Oct 4, 2008 4:31 pm

Simple trade and should benefit both teams. I know no Knicks but I may do this.

Ben Wallace

for

David Lee
Malik Rose
Jerome James

Knicks
Get a defensive big that is much needed. No matter how much D'antoni loves offense, Curry or Randolf are allergic to defense. And hearing how out of shape Curry came to camp he may need to start on the bench. Knicks have started Randolf and Jared Jeffries and the 4 and 5 and have no real rotation so I think Ben would be great opposite Randolf and Ben can run uptempo. Also Knicks get out of Jerome James and can finish putting Isiah mistakes behind.

Cavs
Its all about David Lee. We get our garbage man who is good friends with LBJ. He can start the 4 or back up 4 or 5. And this significantly increases our chances of signing Varajao to an extension now that Ben is gone. I dont know if we keep Malik Rose and try to trade him later down the road since his expiring may be easier to move then Wally's. Jerome James has that very slim chance of retiring but if he doesnt retire, he should definately be cut or bought out just as far away from the team as possible. But his contract expires before 2010.

note: I would love to somehow get Pat Ewing Jr. he is going to be buried in NY behind QRich,Galinari, and Chandler. He would fit backing up SF and fits Browns system with his defensive abilities probably better than anyone even on our team. Maybe for the rights to Sasha Kahn.

New York isn't going to do that, they are high on Lee and he is the front runner to start at center for them.

You have to take at least one bad contract if you expect the knicks to accept but would you accept Lee, Jefferies for Big Ben and a second rounder?

You'd have to take all of NY's bad contracts to get Lee...

We're talking Zach Randolph/Jeffries/James....

Remember, Lee was almost traded for a top 5 pick. Big Ben is not a D'Antoni guy, and he still has 2 years left. It's not like we'd have room next off-season, so this is pipe-dreaming. Does Lee even make you clear-cut favorites over Boston or Detroit? I don't think so...

That's silly to think that you can move all of NY's bad contracts for Lee. Lee is already talking big contract which negates alot of his value. He's a good player but not a great one by any means. You might be able ot load one bad contract for him, but anything more than that means NY keeps him and tries to pay him next season while still keeping the rest of their crappy contracts.
